Bring Back Match-Of-The-Round

I don't think match of the round is the way to go.

What the NRL needs to do is find ways that the same teams play in big match ups in the same round every year. For example, the ANZAC day games are always massive (both the Roosters/Dragons and the Warriors/Storm games).

As a Bunnies supporter, the first thing I do when the draw is released is look at the dates for round 1 and 26 against the roosters as well as the Good friday game against the dogs and make sure I can get them off work.

A similar thing needs to happen for Broncos Vs Cowboys, Parra Vs Dogs and Parra Vs tigers judging off the popularity of today's game.

This way fans can look forward to and plan to attend these big games.

If these games are all played at 3pm on a Sunday (or Friday/Monday if it's the public holiday) you can almost guarantee 40k+ to most of these games.

Not a bad idea, shared amongst Sydney teams, massive advertising revenue allocated it could be a winner ...... IF it was not such a shit venue

The venue kills the idea stone dead

Why don't we go back to an all Sydney comp while we're at it?

Im not saying "dont do something similar with other venues" (If it is possible to do with the draw, id like to see all the venues and home-teams have standardised timeslots to get fans into an easy routine).

But the fact is, there are 5 teams sharing ANZ, so this could easily be a weekly thing without giving a single team a huge advantage (no team would have to host more than 5 games a year, and thats assuming Manly or Penrith don't volunteer to move a game).

It is the perfect place to have a festival-style market outside the stadium to build the game into a bigger event. Think the Easter Show or a Music Festival except this is based around Football.

This would be the NRL equivalent to the US football tailgate parties...

As for the venue, this wouldnt be a change at all...

The ground wouldnt need to get any more game than it already does, it's just about standardising when the games are played, how and when fans should get there and what the day as a whole will be like for families or groups.

Take away the anxiety of planning the whole day and give supporters a nice relaxing day at the footy. This way you take away the need to think about any of it, you just do what youve always done to get to the sunday football game...

why do people hate ANZ so much? transport seems a lot better than brookie and leichardt. atmosphere is great once you break 30k, was absolutely amazing with 50 today. Couldn't even imagine origin or a GF (never been yet).

and the new seating arangements will put the crowd RIGHT next to the action.

good points from souths 1908, but why not have both?? Have those round 1/26 against roosters at anz on a sunday arvo, have broncos/cows on a sunday arvo and sell the place out etc. etc. However, it will mean a restructuring of the schedule to make it something like 2 games friday, 2 saturday and 4 sunday, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm and 6pm. (no MNF)
