Brisbane Tigers make their bid to be 18th team

Membership numbers are a joke of a statistic. At this point they're so easily manipulatable that they're valueless. Literally just a beat up to trick sponsors, corporates, and investors into thinking the clubs are bigger and more successful than they actually are.

Season ticket numbers or GTFO, and the Dolphins are undoubtably amongst lowest in season ticket sales given the way they split their games between three permanent home grounds, which would have cost them millions of dollars in lost revenue.

It's an impressively stupid thing to do, especially considering that it's so they can make the league look amateur by playing out of their tinpot shithole with the leagues club's balcony hanging over the field.

Inevitable given the demand for a second Brisbane side.

25k average is only "massive" in the minds of the out of touch, delusional, and those that think simply outdoing all the other underachieving clubs in the league is a reasonable measure of success.

They could and should have been pushing an average around 30k, give or take, and their numbers were inflated by the 42k crowd in Perth for the doubleheader and 30k+ screaming Broncos fans in round 4. Taking those matches out gives you a better reflection of their genuine drawing power, and it's pretty grim given the potential that existed in Brisbane for a second side to capitalise on.

Again it was inevitable.

Double dipping on the Brisbane market for ratings is only impressive to morons.

That's not something to be proud of, and they even underachieved at that.

Any half decent sports admin, or even just experienced events organisers and promoters, could have got way more milage out of the Dolphins first season and moved way more tickets and product than they managed. Then again what do you expect when you bring in the old boys whose main sports administration experience is organising chook raffles instead of professionals.

Their Suncorp attendances clearly and easily outdraw the Lions. The average is brought down by the Kayo Stadium matches... but you know that.

Maxipad makes misleading arguments by ommitting key details, then accuses other people of being stupid.

When the Lions are forced to play out of the RNA Showgrounds for four years their average will drop below 20k.

Will he accept those numbers as an accurate reflection of their supporter base?

Exactly women’s World Cup impacted both the broncos and dolphins crowds

We don't know what their season ticketed memberships are like.

I agree they should play all 12 games at Lang Park.

Bruce Stadium ain't Lang Park, SFS or Parramatta Stadium.

Didn't you once say NFL stadia are better than Lang Park because they have more room for tailgaiting?

I had to look up "tailgaiting". It's something that Australian sports teams don't do. So why you used that as a metric has me puzzled.

Why are you including all of their games at Dolphin Oval but ignoring all bar one of their games at Lang Park?

They still did better after one year than the Raiders have managed after 41 seasons.

Maybe we should boot the Raiders and bring in the Brisbane Tigers, provided all 12 of their games are at Lang Park?

The Dolphins playing NRL games out of that a tiny shitbox suburban stadium, shows that things are not as rosy as they seem.

You can only assume that they are worried about there drawing power and rely on Broncos fanbase to prop up there Lang Park crowds.

Logan is one of Australia's most multicultural cities.

You're always accusing fumbleball fans of being white supremacists, yet you hate one of Australia's most multicultural cities. I think you're projecting your own biases on fumbleball fans.

According to the **Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) census**, **27.9%** of residents in Logan City were born overseas, and **18.1%** of the population speak a language other than English at home ¹. Logan is home to more than **234 different cultures** ². However, it is not possible to determine the exact number of ethnicities living in Logan as the ABS does not collect data on ethnicity ¹.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Logan is a dump. I would rather Brisbane 3 focus on Ipswich, better place, more history....

Who forced the Dolphins to play out of a shitty suburban ground?

There's no women's world cup on this year and they are still playing 3 games there.

Logan ain't gettin one either....

Can i quote you on that?
Is there a consortium bidding for a 2nd Melbourne team?

If there demand for one from the public?

Just 5k players in all of Victoria. Storm average just 16k at MRS with a team that's been camped in the top four over the bulk of their 25 year existence.

Melbourne Victory pulled bigger crowds when the Melbourne Heart were introduced. The Heart failed miserably.

Melb 2 is at least 30 or 40 years away from being a realistic option. I cannot see the ARLC adding a second team in Melbourne after witnessing how much money AwFuL spends each year propping up the Lions, Giants and Suns.

If NRL goes to 2 teams then there will be a third club in Brisbane. There's no where else in Australia that's viable for an NRL licence without assistance from the ARLC.
