yes i think it will in all honesty for the reasons I've mentioned ie:
1. Adds a new live slot for either Fox or Ch9 on a Friday or Saturday night. Live games are always far more popular and Perth is the only place that can offer this as a new option for stations
2. If the TV station shows NRL in Perth then viewing audiences of 50-100k are very realistic. With our own team the profile of teh game will rise massively like in the mid 90's and more people will tune in to watch. That is greater than what most stations can draw on a Sunday afternoon in Perth.
3. Adds to the capital city Oztam ratings which are the ones that most people seem to use to judge the most watched programmes (by 2million+ a season which would put us ahead of AFL)
4. You need another two teams to add an extra round. We have already heard a rumour that Fox is willing to pay AFL $50mill a year for an extra live game a weekend. Whilst Perth doesn;t add anything in this aspect more than any other two teams, when you consider the other benefits to the rest of the comp and expansion of the game then it is a no brainer.
Is all that worth $5-6million a year? If we get a fair dinkum deal then yep I would say it would be.
