it’s not the point I’m making to pippen read it again.he said brissy has more money and population and yet firehawks was a true brissy club and dolphins whilst they play in brissy are still based in redcliffe. if being in brissy is so important then firehawks would’ve won not dolphins. but they didn’t because of reasons you mentioned and for same reasons you mention including others factors jets should win next south qld license when it’s up.

seems like non local yet again talking about area they don’t live in. warped
Dolphins are a (north) Brisbane side

Population of Redcliffe is what 80k? They have over 30k members lol

Like I said if you do alike for like comparison AFL having two clubs in Adelaide would be the equivalent of us having two clubs in nz (ie a smaller code heartland location)

a nrl equivalent of AFL’s footprint taking into account heartland v expansion locations would be

9 sydney clubs
2 brisbane clubs
2 nz clubs
2 perth clubs
2 melbourne clubs
newcastle

with canberra entering next

the big difference being expansion areas and the fact they have had this equivalent footprint for many years ahead of us. In fact we may never get to this footprint.

PNG? lol the location literally no one wants.
Rugby league footprint 44 million people
Afl footprint 27 million people

By 2030 afl will have Adelaide, Tasmania and Geelong

Nrl will have Newcastle Canberra Wollongong North Queensland all of nz png and probably Fiji Tonga and Samoa

Big city brings eyeballs. Broadcasters will want Brisbane 3 over regional teams. There's strong argument they want Brisbane 3 over Perth.
Re: broadcasters. No there isn’t. What fabricated rubbish. As for eyeballs, pretty evident there will be eye balls regardless of where they are geographically in South Queensland so your point there doesn’t stack up.

I’ve summed up in depth the reasons Ipswich is being buttered up as the next proposed South Queensland team location. Whenever it happens, if at all.

If you want anymore evidence then look no further to who was recently appointed QRL chairman late last year and what his previous roles were (in relation to Ipswich) and this is before we get into the fact QRL CEO has also heavily endorsed the area. These things don’t occur out of sheer coincidence.

State governments on both sides (Labour and Liberals) over the last decade have flagged the region as the continued targeted growth area not just for population but also for commercial operations.

We can go into a far more detailed debate about this if you want.

They still will play most of their games at Suncorp

Unless they get a 40k stadium of their own

Gallop singled out the area 15 years ago

honestly don’t think you or pippens will win a debate about brissy, south Queensland or ippy here. But be cool to see another thought out debate like red bears had with vlados yesterday.

Redcliffe dolphins are a qrl team

They aren’t the team jn the nrl

They are playing most of their games at Suncorp stadium

Unless they moved Suncorp whilst I wasn’t watching that makes them a Brisbane team

You think the arl added a team to represent 100k people

Depends when/if an intended time line is figured out.

Firstly, yes most likely they would play at Suncorp (if it were to happen in the next decade-15 years). Small fact: The Ipswich train line literally passes by Milton (and Suncorp).

Secondly, (anything beyond 15 years) no they wouldn’t need a 40k stadium. They could manage on a Titans/Cowboys size stadium just fine.

Regardless, they would very much be based in Ipswich and come down the Ipswich Motorway/Centenary Freeway/Milton Road straight into Suncorp.

As for geographical identity, nothing stopping them using just The Jets. But again, just like The Dolphins aren’t actually based in Brisbane neither would The Jets.

Agreed except the last paragraph

Both the Dolphins and jets would be Brisbane teams even if one covers north Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast and another west

The dolphins nrl side are clearly a Brisbane side. They don’t have the second highest corporate sponsorship in the nrl by being a team from Redcliffe

It could be purely a jets franchise

It could be easts tigers owned

Judging by how Pvl operates the jets on their own don’t have the money or rich backers for a team

Like he made you guys join with Perth to strengthen them easts could own that team too

Really don’t know but I don’t see the nrl stopping at 20 teams

no but they aren’t based in brisbane but they are clearly based in Redcliffe still. they got around the identity thing by being called just dolphins but deep down it’s still the same club that’s evolved into an nrl club.

dolphins north to sunny coast
broncos central to east
titans south to goldie
jets west to ippy

pretty clear what’s happening there, is for me anyways. they all get same support and you find fans of one team also have partial supports for the other teams. don’t think qld clubs are as tribal as nsw clubs

Why didn’t they pick a name to represent Redcliffe or even Moreton bay ?

Why would they want to limit their geographical potential anyway ?

Qld people watch Qld teams in greater numbers than other teams. Club based in area with larger population will have bigger audience. Hence, talk about south Brisbane based team over Toowoomba.

same reason crushers chose south Queensland instead of brisbane.

but unlike dolphins they were based in brisbane, trained in brisbane, ran out of brisbane I think anyways.
