That’s why I think Jets just works better because like the dolphins you can target people beyond Ipswich area in Brisbane and you can also attract some Newtown fans for Sydney games.

keep the Ipswich dark green colours but add some blue, and invert it when playing some away games in Sydney so it’s mostly blue.

You'll alienate bigger base in Brisbane. I've said a million time Ipswich has it's own proud rugby league history. People only see things through Sydney lens.

Really? They’d be Ipswich jets just with a tinge of blue. They’d just get a bit of support from jets fans who wanna see the blue jersey running around in the nrl

Brisbane.3 will give us 5 NRL teams, which in turn gives us 20 local derbies on a home and away basis, and that is a lot of media coverage for our game in Queensland
A win win for Queensland Rugby League and the NRL.
But this exact same logic will apply after this team. 6 teams means more local derbies and media coverage for the game in QLD, as would 7 or 8 teams. I'm not saying we should never expand in QLD again but this logic alone is useless.

Since 1998 when the storm was added we have seen just 2 expansion sides and BOTH were in SEQLD. Now before Perth or PNG have played a single game we're already talking about another SEQLD side.

It's kinda funny how people on here laugh about AFL expanding in Perth again and how they have no other options and we're talking about QLD again.

I think you’ve missed some crucial context. Which is between 1998 to 2006 Broncos had the entire region for themselves. It’s not like there were added on top of # number of existing NRL teams.

Further to that Broncos were technically servicing 2 cities and 2 other regions prior to the Titans entry and then servicing 1 city 2 regions prior to the Dolphins entry.

Now we are at a point where the remaining region on top of the city Broncos service - isn’t being adequately serviced and it’s growing rapidly (in many areas which give it strong candidacy for a potential NRL club).

End of the day it (and any other would be expansion franchise) will be evaluated based on the metrics it can best hit and what it can offer the game, corporate partners and broadcasters best.

I haven’t missed that and I’m not even necessarily saying that we shouldn’t expand to Brisbane. If that turns out to be the clear best choice then so be it.

I just hate the logic that is constantly put forth for Brisbane 3 when that exact same logic will apply to a Brisbane 4 and 5. Rugby league manage to maintain its spot as the biggest sport in SEQLD comfortably even when it was only the broncos. Now that there is 3 teams in the region I can’t say I feel there is a desperate need for expansion there.

It also runs counter to this idea that the NRL has oodles of places to expand to unlike the AFL who have to retread old ground in Perth.

I can also admit I’m jaded because I want a NZ 2 and it feels like that’s not going to happen for at least a decade if not more.

There's more value in an extra Brisbane team. Tv execs have gone on record stating their desire for more Queensland teams. Dots-on-map people will never understand that.

I don't think the Bronco's or Dolphins would be thrilled with a 3rd Brisbane based team being admitted to the comp.

NRL will likely go with a second NZ team as the 20th team.
actually both clubs have been supporters of another club based in ipswich, phins especially as it echoes their entry with jets brand.

qrl is massively behind it too

a bears member here was active in pushing them seemed to know what the go is
