Defence in Finals footy wins premierships.

We had the attitude you score 20, we'll score 40 all through 2001 and only about 2 weeks out from the finals did we start to dominate in defence.

lol, true... but there wasn't a man on the team that looked as soft as lockyer does at the moment.

but you're right, it's still far too early to tell.

how easy did Barrett get past Hunt,

Hunt couldn't even lay a hand on him

Hunt started out flat footed, Barrett had a full head of steam, what do you want Hunt to do, use his inspector gadget legs?

Why don't the Broncos play Berrick Barnes at hooker he went ok when I last saw him there.

Brisbanes probem is not their defence it's their attack. They can score long range tries better than anyone but when they're in the attacking zone they struggle. Lockyer is doing far too much work in attack and is getting creamed by the defence more often than not. Seymour and to a lesser extent Hunt need to step up and take pressure off him.

ive said it before and been slammed and ill say it again and be slammed
but i personally think soley thinking in terms of a 5/8 i think barrett is better then lockyer. His defense is suberb and when he runs at the line he is at his most dangerous.

I've been saying the exact same thing for two years.

5th tackle options for the Broncos have been appauling of late. Plenty of ball in the attacking zone, but horrible kicks and no imagination in attack.

If they can get a good win this week it will give them some confidence.

Barnes needs a go at 5/8, Casey McGuire to the bench and B Berrigan to 9 because hes fit. Lockyer is out injured.

Drop Carlaw and Smith, Smith is solid but won't cause any headaches off the bench. Use Costigan and Thaiday off the bench, along with Parker. Much more effective.

Marker defence was worrying but also just positioning ourselves.

Broncos are too bunched, watching the two teams, Dragons were spread out and were always looking for the offload while Brisbane were bunched and could never get themselves into position to create breaks.

Next week will be a true indicator if Brisbane are pretenders or if they're premiership favourites...although no Lockyer dosn't help.

Greg Eastwood killed it for the Junior Kiwis. Not much to laugh at, he's a top prospect.

inspector gadget would be the best player ever to play league. he just use his extender arms and score a try all the time.

Barret is a good football player, but he has a long way to go before he is up there with lockyer.

Anyway Locky will be out untill the first week of finals, it will do him the world of good to have a brake and the team as a whole, because they will have to take on his work rate and leadership.

He will be back fireing in the finals, and to lead his country in the tri nations.
