Good to see the broncos off-field antics back in the papers again.

Will we see a Roberts/Toilet trio slap on the wrist - counselling and a modest fine

Or because he is a fringe first grader - will he incur a heavier fine - ala Ian Lacey?

Brisbane Broncos forward Joe Ofahengaue charged over an alleged cheating incident at Treasury Casino

Brisbane Broncos forward Joe Ofahengaue has been charged over an alleged early morning casino cheating incident.

The 21-year-old Tongan national representative returned to the Broncos NRL side this year after he was dropped to the Queensland Cup toward the end of 2016.

His case is due to be mentioned in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday.

A police spokesman said a 21-year-old man was issued with a notice to appear over an incident in Brisbane's Treasury Casino at 5.45am on April 8.

Ofahengaue was charged with cheating by fraudulent act, practice or scheme.

He was reportedly not expected to appear in court in person.

Broncos CEO Paul White said the club are aware of the matter and have notified the NRL Integrity Unit.

"We will allow due course to run and then determine if any further action is to be taken", White added.

Only last week, Wayne Bennett welcomed back Ofahengaue from the rugby league wilderness for Friday night's NRL clash with South Sydney after revealing the young forward had "got ahead of himself". He also took on the Panthers on Thursday night.

The 21-year-old appeared for the Broncos for the first time since Round 21 last year after replacing bench forward Tevita Pangai Jr, who is out for up to two months with a finger injury.

Before the game, Bennett said Ofahengaue now knew what it took to be an NRL player after losing his way in 2016.

"Joe probably got a bit ahead of himself and he had to go back and appreciate what playing the NRL really means," the Brisbane coach said.

"He's done a great job of himself in the last couple of weeks.

"His form's good and he's ready to go".

After a dream debut season, Ofahengaue played in the 2015 grand final before his form dropped off last year but still managed 17 games.

Asked if Ofahengaue had needed an attitude adjustment after his 2015 success, Bennett said: "I don't think it was an attitude thing.

"They just get opportunities and get ahead of themselves and think they have really made it when they haven't.

"You never really make it. Every week you have to prove whether you are up for the game regardless of whether you have played one or 100 games."

The NRL come out and back the bunker saying there was conclusive evidence that Maguire was not playing at the ball.

Maguire comes out and admits he was playing at the ball.

Although regardless if he played at it or not. The ball was propelled backwards from his grip anyway. How is that a knock on? It was all backwards from Wallace. NRL dont even know how their own rules work.

Thankfully this week it didnt matter. Last week it did

how does this country's second biggest rugby league city have only one team in the national comp? Unfathomable really. The monopoly these merkins have had going on for about 30 seasons now is astounding. The Crushers were a failure, but efforts really should've been made to get another club into this market in the noughties.

The AFL have successfully added second teams in their smaller market strongholds in Adelaide and Perth, and all 4 clubs reach near capacity at their home matches. f**k, they've even got 2 clubs set up in the Sydney metro, yet the NRL can't even get a second club up in it's 2nd major metropolitan area. There are as many AFL clubs in Southern Queensland as there are in the NRL. FFS!

I don't get this reasoning of your second last sentence, and it seems to be trotted out regularly.

Every single decision matters!!

It would've been 6-0 with Penrith receiving the ball back at the restart, and all the play from then on being totally different to what transpired when Brisbane received the ball back on their line after the incorrect decision was made.

Brisbane going out to a 22-0 lead, or winning the match by more than 6 pts doesn't lessen the seriousness of the wrong decision. It altered the the progress of the match that would have otherwise occurred.

Brisbane went above and beyond to drive the crushers out, to the point where the power would mysteriously go out in the away shed when they faced each other.

pretty well time to bet as much as possible on the donkeys to win the GF, same formula when souths won leg ups galore from officials. The NRL have decided it's Brisbanes time to win again.

We were bloody terrible. But that was a disgraceful decision that completely altered the course of the game. It shouldn't have, but it did. This is the third week in a row for the Broncos. The NRL cannot continue to allow one club to get these leg-ups if it wants its competition to maintain credibility.

You're kidding me right, you had a 7-3 penalty count go in your favor, your initial try came off the back of 2 bullshit penalties, he was not offside and then a penalty for a bit of niggle in the ruck (which happens 2-3 times in a set). Your 2nd try, he's dropped it cold but there was no clear vision of such a thing with legs and bodies in the way and your 3rd try was purely momentum on the back of the first 2.

But carry on, whinge away.

The better team won, stop looking for an excuse, your team f**king sucks.

You are spot on mate. I was close friends with some high up in the club and can vouch for the fact the Donkey's did whatever they could, whenever they could to finish the Crushers.

Pathetic.

Lmao... no one ever scores legitimate tries against you. Do they? Youre so used to the bunker and refs helping you that you cant comprehend teams scoring against you or being penalised for being grubs.

The better team won. But as per usual the referees were doing their part to make sure it happened.

plan fan days at venues next door and across the road from them on the same day on purpose, feed fake news to companies they were in talks with for sponsorship. I have said it before that prior to 2005 there would have been a wall somewhere in the bowels of broncos hq with a crushers, seagulls and cowboys logo on the wall and a big red cross through 2 and a few darts thrown at the cowboys one.

crushers averaged 25k a game before stupid league.

it's a myth that they weren't succesful. they were ironically "crushed" by manipulated market forces

100%

They'd threaten news outlets with no access to their players if they provided the Crushers with what they deemed too much airplay, tell establishments around Brisbane if they had Crushers players in their venues then they'd ban all Bronco's players form going there. The list goes on.

People wonder why there is such hatred towards that club....
