So, the question I wanna ask now is this: I hear of all this talk in regards to the upgrade of Brookvale Oval. If Brookvale Oval is to be upgraded and get the funding it needs from the government etc., what do you think the capacity of the ground would be?

If they got the funding and they followed their masterplan I reckon they could increase capacity by something in the order of 1,000-2,000. This is just estimating from diagrams so it's impossible to say with any certainty. You'd lose a little capacity on the eastern hill but gain that back again plus a bit more with the stand behind the hill. Add to that the new capacity in the SE corner stand (very similar to the existing Ken Arthurson stand) and I reckon you're looking a modest increase in capacity.

The view from behind the Brookvale Oval. Jane Try stand on the right,
looking at the Southern Stand behind the goal posts. A new Eastern
Stand has been added at the rear of the Hill area with a connecting
stand in the Southeastern corner, similar to the Ken Arthurson Stand.

The Eastern Hill and Eastern Grandstand. This concept retains a very
large portion of the Hill area and places a new grandstand at the back
with roughly the same number of seating rows as the Southern stand.
Corporate facilities will be located at the back of the stand
(similar to the Southern Stand), with other facilities at ground level under
the stand and at the back of the hill area.

The Connecting Stand. Similar in design to the Ken Arthurson Stand this stand would connect the Southern and Eastern Stands. It would feature significant corporate facilities just below the grandstand seating and provide other club facilities underneath.

To be honest that ground looks like it belongs in League One of English football.

I am sure the architects could do better, it is 2007...

Is Brookvale Oval a nice ground to watch the rugby league at? To those who have watched games at the ground, what are your thoughts on it? Also, if the Manly Sea Eagles had to play somewhere else on the Northern Beaches (if hypothetically Brookvale Oval was not deemed suitable), where would they play at? Would it be possible to build a ground at Manly (like, at Manly Beach, overlooking the beach (similar to WIN Stadium))? Or what about an expansion of Pittwater Park?
