From Barry Tooheys column in today's telegraph:

I don't know whether to laugh or cry. I shudder to think what Mamo is on.

Hagan, Stone and Midley will never have to buy a beer again in their lives. They handed out winning lottery tickets.

Barnett is a NSW Cup player. He'd be lucky to be getting a top 25 contract.

It's all about desire with Stockwell. Brown has made it clear that the young guys playing gives an opportunity for those that were there last year to show whether they really want to be with the club. They step up or they pay the price. Different for the new guys - we give them more latitude.
I reckon Korbin is close to being a reserve (except for numbers available) and Tariq will only seethe year out.

I've been very disappointed with Stockwell, mainly because his form last year had me very optimistic. He was easily one of our best players over the first half of last year, but this year he appears to be going through the motions. I personally believe that on their day, the Knights have plenty of players who could be decent first graders, however most of those players aren't giving it their all on the field.

Unbelievable to think a player of stockwell's ability is on 300k a season. Scary to think what some of our other average players are being paid

Rick Stone, Hagan and Gidley must never be allowed near this club again! One for the people in denial.

You know there would still be plenty of supporters calling for Hagan and Stone to be returned.

Those two blokes more than anyone have screwed us royally.

Hagan was notorious for giving ordinary players huge deals *cough*reynoldson*cough* his first time around. Shouldn't have expected anything else I guess.

Not surprised he's on that much. Not at all.

Good thing we have a coach with a spine who signs players appropriately and for the most part expects them to keep up withe coin they're earning.

I'm still in shock that Clydsdale was on $250,000.

why?

"cap average" is 240k, and a team like the Broncos has a "cash average" of 350k.

At the time he re-signed, Clydsdale was starting for us - he was in our top 13.

In hindsight these deals look horrible, but given the role that he was supposed to play, these horrible deals were "market rate" at the time they were signed.

As was Tyrone, and Stockwell, and Hokko, and Tariq, and Snowden, and basically our entire squad.

The difference between us and other clubs is they can absorb the horrible deals by finding another TPA.

We can't.
