Honestly though, the South Island shits all over the North. No contest.
Auckland is the mother of all shit holes.
Love the banter. There are plenty of places worse than Auckland though. It’s not great but it’s not terrible.

Auckland can pretty pretty damn nice in the right areas and on the right days, and pretty crap in others. Could say the same for Christchurch or Welllington though. Personally I’d live in Wellington out of the three. Depends what you’re after, to an extent.Love the banter. There are plenty of places worse than Auckland though. Probably not.Are we even talking about the same thing?
Taking up a contract to play and live.. a couple hours and a hundred bucks every so often ( once a month maybe) to see family is negligible.
Small peanuts to not live in Auckland!
I'd rather steer clear of the North Island all together tbh.
I haven't been back for about 10 years, so maybe I'm missing something? Shit hole full of bikies?
Born and bred in AKL... housing market is unaffordable, traffic sucks and up till recently, we had the worst public transport network outside of Mongolia. Unfortunately Welly has now taken that honour from us.Auckland can pretty pretty damn nice in the right areas and on the right days, and pretty crap in others. Was a little tongue in cheek They've had some recent dramas with newly laid track being too narrow and long term (as in 10-15yrs) off peak closures for maintenance... but to be fair, we're still having plenty of transport dramas here too. What happened to Wellington public transport? It used to actually be decent!
PR getting a bit of the jitters, better hope the Bears want to be in Perth, before this supposed NZ2 bid existsAfter bigging up their bid launch in Vegas with some star announcement they didn’t do anything! Is this bid smoke and mirrors? This is their response when someone asked them on facebook

Dickless?I actually feel sorry for the bloke.
He is obviously passionate about Rugby League, and has a long history with the game at a junior level.
He thought he could hype his way into something happening and locked onto the Vegas news cycle. Judging by his social he didn't even make it to Vegas himself.
It's obvious he has got nothing but a bit of moxy.
Probably the least likely location to accept a transplanted Aus team. Can a relocation of a Sydney team work
As the NZ 2 team
Bulldog's. Grizzlies Bear's
Sharks. Magpies ?
Maybe the Magpies to the Bay would work, but that'd have to be renamed the League Magpies.Probably the least likely location to accept a transplanted Aus team.
I think the bears or bulldogs would work, the former because of the colours and the latter the Canterbury name. But it’s somewhat academic because there’s no way the dogs are leaving Sydney, they’ve got a big catchment and a highly tribal, loyal fanbase. They’ll eventually be contenders again.Probably the least likely location to accept a transplanted Aus team.
Maybe the Eels to Wellington wearing the predominantly yellow Jersey playing in Paremata?I think the bears or bulldogs would work, the former because of the colours and the latter the Canterbury name. But it’s somewhat academic because there’s no way the dogs are leaving Sydney, they’ve got a big catchment and a highly tribal, loyal fanbase. They’ll eventually be contenders again.
Canterbury could be a true split team and play as the ‘Dogs’ in Sydney and the ‘Bulls’ in CHCHI think the bears or bulldogs would work, the former because of the colours and the latter the Canterbury name. But it’s somewhat academic because there’s no way the dogs are leaving Sydney, they’ve got a big catchment and a highly tribal, loyal fanbase. They’ll eventually be contenders again.
Leaving the brand and records behind would be the best way to go if a club was to relocate to NZ.I think the bears or bulldogs would work, the former because of the colours and the latter the Canterbury name. Why bother then? Just start from scratchLeaving the brand and records behind would be the best way to go if a club was to relocate to NZ.
Relocate the NRL side, rebrand it for the new market, and keep the old brand operating in the NSW/Qld Cup as a feeder and for merchandising purposes. That's probably the best way to handle any relocation at this point.
