Building the next NZ team

Thanks for posting. I argued this for ages many pages ago, another NZ team increases the tv deal in NZ without question making it an absolute must for SKY while still delivering the mooted extra fixture for Foxtel here that any team offers. We aren't going to get much in the way of WA viewers and it could be argued that even here in Aus, the amount of expat Kiwis here that would be captured via a new team would surpass WA..
Another NZ team wins on every metric.

I suspect we are getting Perth bears & south island (bid with strongest financial clout) confirmed this year. PNG is being kicked down road as a bit of work needs to be done there.

There's no need to establish a new NZ team. All you need to do is promote the Wellington Orcas. Just wanted to clear that up.
You can't just "Promote" a NZ provincial rugby league team - they're basically at a level below NSW or Qld Cup as far as player quality & financials go.

That's like saying the Thames Valley Swamp-Foxes should be promoted to Super Rugby.

Besides, the Warriors would argue even harder against a Wellington NRL team for NZ 2 than they are against a Christchurch one.

Hey MugaB, pay cloase attention to what Flippikat wrote in his reply. this is the sort of discussion we should be having in this thread. Not your moronic dribble.

Do better next time.

Hey f**kwììt, you couldn’t hold a proper conversation if you tried, go to your favourite GWS thread and talk of vicky kicky with all the other AFL trolls

Perth, NZ & SEQ that's were the best ROI is for the NRL in the next three licences.

WA Bears
South Island Kea
Ipswich Tiger-Jets
I wouldn't mind PNG getting in there somewhere but I think it needs the most investment by the NRL. if the NRL arnt willing to do that then it will never work.

Christchurch yes, South Island Keas no. If you want Moffett back in the sport after all the damage incurred to RL during his time at the NRL then you need a lobotomy. He's the opposite of King Midas, everything he touches turns to shit.

Yeah, the other South Island Bid looks to have the backing of a lot of rugby league people AND the leagues down there, whereas the Kea bid looks like Moffat, his mates & some decidedly iffy AI generated art.

Does the other bid have a name for the team?

Good move.

could potentially get the people of Christchurch and the South Island involved in the naming process.

Before the gag order Perth red posted that south Island bId on Facebook ran poll with scorpions being preferred option.

South Island bId on Facebook today calling for ideas for a name. Scorpions, stags and orcas seem to be favourites

No, just "South Island NRL Bid" at this stage. Green or teal seems to feature a lot with them, but I think everything's a placeholder at this stage.

They did post on Facebook asking their followers for brand ideas - but everything's well under wraps for now, assuming they've even decided on an identity.
