Just a couple of quick points on tonights game before going into the changes for next week.

Petersen did have a bad game with Sonny-Bill Williams but quite frankly he is going to make a lot more people look worse then Petersen before the end of this year.

My side for next week
1. Burt - I know that most people don't want him here but I've got him here in name only. Get Vaealiki to basically play FB with Burt roaming around the park looking for offloads from forwards. Playing a similar role to when Preston Campbell was named on the wing.
2. Matt Petersen - As I said yes he didn't have a great game but he did try during the game and scored a late try.
3. Jamie Lyon - If he sees some ball he can do damage.
4. David Vaealiki - To play more of a fullback role but named in the centres.
5. Eric Grothe - Was along with Dykes the Eels best.
6. Witt/Thorman - One of the two to come in and give the Eels more options and a 2nd goalkicker if Burt is forced off.
7. Adam Dykes - Made a couple of mistakes was solid in defence one of the few players who actually earned his pay.
8. Craig Stapleton - I for one was impressed with him maybe it was a lot do with the pathetic display from some of the other forwards but he was one of the best.
9. John Morris - Didn't do too much special but from what I saw didn't make too many major errors either
10. Aaron Cannings - If he can hold the ball
11. Nathan Hindmarsh - If Fit will be there
12. Nathan Cayless - Diodn't have his usual high standard game but like Lyon given support is a very good player
13. Lee Hopkins - Had an off night but after last season he deserves one off game.

14. Thorman/Witt/Webster - Again to give more options
15. Chris Armit - This time don't make him play 2 games in 24 hours
16/17 - Take you pick Kaufusi, Tsoulos, Pearson, Widders, Moi Moi, Curtis, Peek etc (but not Vella)

Smith f-ed up big time this week with his team selection. I had a feeling that it was either going to work great or failed misirably unfourtunatly it was the latter.

While a lot of people have been bagging Vella since 2001. While not always defending him I've never really bagged him well after that display it changes.

Now I can see while MG named him in his all-soft pack hell Vella would be captian, coach of an all time soft team maybe this is why they call him Tranny cause he has no balls.

Good for you one eye. Beating some powder puff parra team is nothing compared to the challanges that lie in front of your bulldogs.

i think i figured out Smiths brain
when Dykes was playing sh!t Smith CONTINUED to have him in the team for 2 years (eventually he showed form)
he likes to play players that play like sh!t then he wonders why Parra fans hate him and continues with the good players in PL they leave and make a big name for themselves and Smith wont admit to his 'mistake' just makes excuses

I will keep coming back to the club that breaks my heart every year.

By thursday of each week it promises me that it has changed its ways and will return to the club I loved up to 1986 and for most of the late 1990's.
But then, as it has done at the end of every season since 1997, and especially over the last two years it lets me down again.
But I keep coming back because I, like many other Parra fans are hooked, addicted.
If Parra were a girlfriend I would have dumped them years ago - they promise so much, I know they have unlimited potential, but they always seem to break my heart adn let me down with the prize in front.

I wouldnt know what to do if Parra won the title - they are so good at falling at the last hurdle, or being mediocre for long periods despite the fans the juniors and the money.

All I can do is wait until Sunday for redemption against the Broncos and hope that Phil Gould and all the people posting on this site are wrong. I dont care if Smith Coaches up or not, all I want is my team to win.

We went bad, but not that bad. No club could have a 5 year drought in the current climate, and heck, we're still a top 8 chance despite the smashing. I don't like a lot of things Smith has done, but the problem can't rest squarely on his shoulders, if we lose a lot of games this year with a full strength side, its a coaching problem, but at the moment I'm willing to place the blame for this one on the players, a fair few guys out there played like crap and I don't think any gameplan or strategy could have helped them win on Saturday night. Jack Gibson couldn't have coached that mob to victory with the effort they put in.

The best way a coach can motivate players is by getting players who are self motivating. Maybe who ever does the recruiting needs to look deeper than simply height and weight numbers.
