Well you are a tool

I'm Serbian and go to the game with a lebbo, 5 convict Aussies (with occasional input from more recent English immigrants), a couple Indians, an Italian and an Argentine!

This is a multicultural society :D

On topic: they will always be the Canterbury Bankstown District Rugby League Football Club.

Change their name to Canterbury Bulldogs... Canterbury NZ that is :p (only kidding). I hate this only "Bulldogs" rubbish. Just put anything before Bulldogs. Even something broad like West Sydney Bulldogs (but preferably Canterbury).

As for the "Sydney Roosters" thing, I actually don't mind that. If you look at a map that's close to where they are, close to the city of Sydney. Yes Sydney is that little bit with all the tall buildings but at least that's an actual place. They don't mean to try and claim Greater Sydney. Sorta like the Melbourne Demons in the AFL aren't actually trying to represent the whole of Melbourne, just the inner city bit.
Technically its ok and as long as they have a name (and play close to that area) im fine with it. But yes, they'll always be Easts ;-)

I like aids suggestion, the "Liverpool Bulldogs"... shame that stadium couldn't happen. That's a massive area and a real league heartland.

You've hit the nail on the head JK.
There's a lot more identity and history in the Canterbury-Bankstown name than in the bland "Bulldogs".

I've written to the club more than once about this and never got a reply. But as long as we (the fans), the press and commentators keep saying Canterbury, hopefully they'll change it back eventually.

And while we're at it, the occasional game at Belmore and more usage of the old "CB" logo would go down very nicely thank you very much.

its an unfortunate part of the 'americanisation' of the game, the franchise mentality that says 'sydney' is more brand friendly than easts or canterbury.
the grand final ring, and tipping the gatorade over the coach, other examples on grand final day of the lack of understanding of a home grown footballing culture.
