Burt and Petersen

Both Luke Burt and Matt Petersen have had a lof of baggers on this board but they really are looking like a very effective centre/wing combination at the moment.

How Petersen manages to stay in play as often as he does is miraculous and Burty really is playing top footy and I've been impressed with the aggressive of his defence. Hopefully he bulks up a bit in the off-season and I think he and Tahu are going to be an excellent centre pairing.

Also like to give a  to another of the more maligned Eels. Corey Pearson made 180 metres on the weekend and led the way in every way possible.

And finally, to the ref  All of the forwards made good metres/per hitup which indicated the nice wide ten he kept which made it a really open flowing game. I thought he was spot on with pretty much all his calls and I thought he handled the very frustrated Kiwis pretty well.

Petersen's improved his game enormously, and, although I always like him, I am very happy with him.

Burt also - I thought when he ran the ball he made space for himself and Petersen and looked dangerous in attack. And his defence is getting better too.

LOL How good was Pearson. I wish he had more game time. He was absolutley killing them. Ive always liked Peterson. But i think Burt has to play on the wing. This new guy Davis i think sounds pretty good and Smith is coming nicely.

I think Burt has got better and better each week playing there.

i was very impressed with what i saw burty do with the ball on saturday night. His service out to peto was fantastic and they always looked dangerous. Burty's always been a favourite of mine, and despite a few errors that continually marr his performances, im glad to see he's had a great season.... one which saw the birth of his little girl and will be topped off with his 100th game at the end

Burt did some really good things in the centres this game, but seemed to also make some silly errors from time to time. Still, its an improvement on some of his games this year, so

Petersen does well on the wing, and gives his all each week. Ash Graham also showed some improvement/confidence too for mine.

Pearson did well, and was the easily the best of our four front rowers this game. Someone, put him in for a try in the next two weeks!!

That was Petersen's 50th 1st grade game (he played 8 of those with the cowboys) and his scored 31 tries (scored 2 with the Cowboys)

So 29 tries in 42 games with Parra

Not a badf strike rate at all.

Burt is a quality player. Ask Phil Gould, he has discreetly tried to get him to the Roosters on at least one occassion.

Burt is a very good player, i just don't think he's a centre, and he can produce a great game here & there but not on a consistent basis at centre, i'd have him on the wings next year.

Peterson has been very good for us in the past month.

i think Peterson is very underrated and is often made a scapegaot for losses because he does have a tendancy for making poor decisions in defence

but he gives 100% in every aspect of the game and as Hurriflatch highlighted, he has an amazing strike rate for scoring tries......he can find the line......and that is what wingers are meant to primarily do....any other shortcomings should be forgiven as long as they can get to the line when needed to

True EEL I think his defence has been impeccable over the last month, in fact his entire game has been impeccable. He has proven a lot of people very wrong.

I know!

How good was the try-saving tackle on Merritt two weeks ago? I thought he'd scored for sure! But no! Muzza and George made a great tackle to save a certain try!

Peterson is one of those guys you want to see do well because he wears his heart on his sleeve.

I remember his first year with us, he was up against hoppa at parra stadium....it was funny watching cos he really got under hoppas skin!

hey i'm not one that has a go at Sideshow about his defence (or anything else)

i'm a Sideshow supporter, i was merely trying to appease some that dislike him because of his seldom defensive worries, but he is going great and about time everyone realsied it - he is an assest to the club and team

Hoppa and Muzza always get into an argument

Hoppa everytime he goes into a tackle "grapples" Petersen. It's so bad it makes the Storm's grapple tackles look like ankle taps.
