pedastal?
both kenny and hindmarsh are arguably legends of the game, burt is simply not.
it's gone from pulling the heart strings to labelling me as living in the past.
what's the next pissweak excuse?
i'm well aware of that mate. i'm just telling you what it feels like when compared to hazem and joey.
It's funny 'cause it's true. When a guy - any guy - plays ~200 games and scores ~100 tries for our Club he deserves recognition. He does not deserve to be looked down upon simply because he might take a record from one of your childhood heroes.
Luke has earnt the right to be second on the list and if he makes it to first he will have earnt the right to be there, too.
you know, ironically, the way you have responded is the most reasonable that i can agree to.
Burt isn't being outplayed by anyone in the team. He's held his spot for 11 years now and continues to show he is no less important than others in the team.suprising considering your passionate and more often than not misguided loyalty to a bloke who is being clearly outplayed by another.
I never saw it as Burt bashing, more an unfounded favouritism of past players simply because they were your childhood heroes. I don't think you were specifically targeting Burt and probably would have held the same attitude for anyone except maybe Hindmarsh (who seems to have earnt a "place amongst the greats" or whatever).i am far from being a burt basher, i remember his debut and certainly value his contribution to the club. however my points earlier still stand (especially about tendency for favouritism to current players).
Oh, I don't disagree, CJ. That is a very fair point and one I have continually tried to make regarding the likes of HaHa (and, conversely, with the way the likes of Burt and Caylo have been treated in the past).there are people that here take it too far at both ends of the spectrum (ala tim smith), i certainly believe i'm in the middle.
for someone who's seen them play since 1975, I woulw love to see Burt beat Berts record, if he can achieve it, he deserves it..it's that simple.
Luke Burt Club legend.
Brett Kenny club legend.
Pretty good for a forward, just quietly.Brett Kenny 110
Luke Burt 93
Steve Ella 92
Eric Grothe 78
Ray Price 78
Mick Cronin 75
Eric Grothe Jnr 59
nathan Hindmarsh 57
Mitchell Wallace 57
Neville Glover 54
Peter Sterling 48
Pretty good for a forward, just quietly.
Sometimes I forget how good Ray Price actually was, then something out of the blue like this stat reminds me.
* Adn who was Mitchell Wallace...?
I don't think anyone could seriously suggest Burt is better then Bert except for at kicking but if he beats the record good on him & I'll be there to cheer him on.
Luke has had an up & down career, there has been times when he has been outstanding & times he has been fairly poor which I think is why he has his fans & detractors because some people focus on certain moments of his career. One thing I will give him even when his form was poor I don't think it was ever through a lack of trying which is more then I can say for some footballers.

I reckon Hayne would probably break that record if he stays his whole career.
