Burt v 'Bert'

Luke may not be a 'siperstar' but he's played for parra for 11 years now. You can't question his loyalty to the blue and gold. If he breaks the record then good on him. He must be doing something right!

pedastal?

both kenny and hindmarsh are arguably legends of the game, burt is simply not.

it's gone from pulling the heart strings to labelling me as living in the past.

what's the next pissweak excuse?

Yes you are right, anyone to score 100+ tries for the club is absolute sh*t and should never be recognised by anyone because he is so sh*t that he scores more tries, in less games than the legend that is BK.

Boo luke Burt - how dare you??

i'm well aware of that mate. i'm just telling you what it feels like when compared to hazem and joey.

Luke Burt is now showing up as a better winger than Neil Hunt, Atkins & Liddiard and they were not slouches either. If Luke was playing for the Eels back in 1980 to 1990 he would have been Erick Grothe's wing partner. Jack Gibson would have brought the best out of Luke just as DA is doing now.

To think that Luke has played around 190 NRL games, often smashed, often injured due to his size, often playing like a pinball against monsters of players pounding his body, week after week, month after month, season after season, I think Craig its time for you to have an enema as it appears you have some serious blockages. The incontrovertible evidence is found in your postings in this string.

One of the main reasons I came on board to this forum was to assist in whatever way possible, in getting those constipated Eels supporters stuck on terrible negativity, to have a cleanout (A COLONIC).

Its time to bring some joy back into life so lets rejoice the beauty of life and thank Luke Burt for playing with the Eels and not with Manly.

It's funny 'cause it's true. When a guy - any guy - plays ~200 games and scores ~100 tries for our Club he deserves recognition. He does not deserve to be looked down upon simply because he might take a record from one of your childhood heroes.

Luke has earnt the right to be second on the list and if he makes it to first he will have earnt the right to be there, too.

you know, ironically, the way you have responded is the most reasonable that i can agree to.

suprising considering your passionate and more often than not misguided loyalty to a bloke who is being clearly outplayed by another.

i am far from being a burt basher, i remember his debut and certainly value his contribution to the club. however my points earlier still stand (especially about tendency for favouritism to current players).

there are people that here take it too far at both ends of the spectrum (ala tim smith), i certainly believe i'm in the middle.

Admit it, it's 'cause I'm so good looking, isn't it? You love me, don't you?

Burt isn't being outplayed by anyone in the team. He's held his spot for 11 years now and continues to show he is no less important than others in the team.

I never saw it as Burt bashing, more an unfounded favouritism of past players simply because they were your childhood heroes. I don't think you were specifically targeting Burt and probably would have held the same attitude for anyone except maybe Hindmarsh (who seems to have earnt a "place amongst the greats" or whatever).

Oh, I don't disagree, CJ. That is a very fair point and one I have continually tried to make regarding the likes of HaHa (and, conversely, with the way the likes of Burt and Caylo have been treated in the past).

I don't think anyone could seriously suggest Burt is better then Bert except for at kicking but if he beats the record good on him & I'll be there to cheer him on.

Luke has had an up & down career, there has been times when he has been outstanding & times he has been fairly poor which I think is why he has his fans & detractors because some people focus on certain moments of his career. One thing I will give him even when his form was poor I don't think it was ever through a lack of trying which is more then I can say for some footballers.

Pretty good for a forward, just quietly.

Sometimes I forget how good Ray Price actually was, then something out of the blue like this stat reminds me.

* Adn who was Mitchell Wallace...?

I would suggest that Burty is a better point scorer than Bert.

I would also suggest that Bert is a better 5/8 than Burt.

They are obviously different players so why the need to compare them.

I reckon Hayne would probably break that record if he stays his whole career.

Should we wipe out all the records held by Judas?

Big if! Player's who can command that kind of money are usually likely to move around. Finger's crossed he stays forever though!
