Haha, I had cast that from my mind but you've gone and dredged that up from the deep dark depths of my brain. Will always regret buying that CD for my sister's birthday, hated that version so very very much.

Then was reminded again of it last year when the main singer (Mel Blatt) was a judge on the NZ version of X Factor. God, I hate that cover.

Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You (Dolly Parton). Dolly's original is a sweet, simple country ballad. Whitney tramples all over it with zero restraint, singing about 15 different notes every time one would have sufficed and sounding like a pack of howling sled dogs. Of course it sold millions.

I heard a cover of You Shook Me All Night Long by a rockabilly band called The Eskimo Brothers at Layla's Blurgrass Inn in Nashville. The ingeniously changed the lyrics from "she told me to come but I was already there" to "she told me to cum, but not in her hair".

Absolute gold!

That pissed me off when Whitney Houston died and people were making Dolly out to be an evil bitch because she stood to make a shit ton of money off all the royalties from people downloading that song that she fecking wrote.

On a related note I have stood in the room where Dolly recorded that song. :)

Digging through some unlistened to stuff last night and came across Helmet's cover version of "Army Of Me" by Bjork.

Thinking the song would have suited Helmet's style...how wrong was I!! Paige Hamilton...hold your head in shame...you have truly killed a great original song.

They had a massive number one hit with a cover of Elvis' Can't Help Falling In Love With You.
Was top of the charts for weeks.
