I don't know if I would call it a giant f**k up. They were trying something. It didn't work out, but it wasn't a complete disaster.

Probably the wrong terminology but it was very ill-advised. It smacked of giving Konrad an opportunity to placate him, putting him in a position nearer the middle that in no way suited us, nor did the use of an outside back for 20 mins in unfamiliar circumstances help us at all. It was a really big waste of time, as proven by the fact it only happened for 3 weeks.

Sounds like I'm in the minority but I still hope Hurrell stays with us, and he turns into something consistently good.

We planned 2016 with him in the roster, unless a replacement comes in he shouldn't go. What if Kata goes down in the Tonga game? What if Ayshford turns an ankle at training?

Releasing players mid-season, it's got to be an act of last resort, I don't think Hurrell's in that situation right now.

We shouldn't mess with our depth, it's kept us alive so far this season.

Count me in your camp mate. As frustrated as I have been with Konnie's form lately I still believe he could go on to be a great player if he could pull his head in. At least he plays with some damn enthusiasm when he is out there. If we can keep him for the rest of the year and give him another chance to work his way into the main team then I'd be happy. Really don't want to see us lose another talented outside back.

If we let this guy go now, would it clear up any cap space for us to potentially pick up one of Parra's scraps from the salary cap drama?

Would be good to get someone who will be part of the team.

Even if we let him go to another club, I'd like to see us get someone out of the deal, another player swap.

Maybe the hold up is that no one is putting their hand up to take Konnie?

Guess with Luke and Tevaga we don't need a 9, but I'd love Peats

Hurrell should be let go imo - teams don't need that bullshit, and tbh all he's contributed is a sideshow - on field he's shown he can be destructive with ball in hand, but generally isn't consistent enough for first grade - big upside, and hindsight is 20:20 - good luck to him if he develops into a star somewhere else, at the moment it doesn't seem likely to happen here - clearly he bears significant responsibility for that, as well as coaching/management

I can't listen to him anymore. I don't generally disagree with him, but he gets so hysterical it just does my head in.
Hmmm a trait he shares with a certain poster around here (Iron Lying)? the plot thickens...

Konrad Hurrell's days at the Warriors appear numbered but the clock is ticking if he is to leave this season, with the June 30 NRL player transfer deadline fast approaching.

The Herald on Sunday understands the already strained relations between Hurrell and the Warriors have almost completely broken down in the wake of the prescription pills and energy drinks saga that engulfed the club recently.

Hurrell is contracted to the Warriors until the end of 2018 and wants to stay in Auckland despite languishing in reserve grade most of the season. He's made four NRL appearances off the bench in games against the Storm, Knights, Roosters and Sea Eagles.

The Warriors are keen to let him go and would consider paying a portion of his wages if another club made a reasonable offer to buy out his big-money contract, believed to be around $500,000 a season.

But time is running out if a deal is to be stitched up this season, with Hurrell needing to secure a new contract before the transfer deadline. Several rival NRL and rugby clubs here and abroad have expressed interest in him but it's not believed an offer is on the table.

Hurrell's future at the Warriors has been under scrutiny all season and he's been linked with a move to the Titans and Manly. Any potential move to the Gold Coast is now under a cloud after they signed hooker Nathan Peats from the Eels midweek and it's unclear if they have any space under the salary cap.

The Warriors appear to have lost patience with Hurrell, who last year turned up to pre-season training out of shape and is no stranger to social media scandals and late-night indiscretions.

In 2014, he was investigated by the Warriors and NRL's integrity unit after a video showing him involved in a sex act appeared on social media. He was later fined $5000 and ordered to undergo counselling.

Last year, he was fortunate to escape punishment after attending a midweek concert in Auckland in between the Warriors suffering consecutive 50-16 thrashings against the Cowboys and Wests Tigers.

The 24-year-old Tongan international is understood to have been unhappy at being punished for his involvement in accompanying five team-mates on an unsanctioned late night out in Auckland.

Hurrell was the only player who did not admit to taking prescription pills and energy drinks but, along with the rest of the group, was stood down from test selection heading into last week's internationals. He was then embroiled in further controversy after sending an ill-timed retweet that added fuel to speculation coach Andrew McFadden has lost the support of his players.

McFadden was frustrated by Hurrell's actions and immediately questioned if Hurrell had a future at the club. Last week, he said he had no issue with Hurrell but that "we need to make decisions that are best for the organisation".

Despite media consistently reporting Hurrell did not admit to any drug taking, his management are eager for the club to clear his name of any wrongdoing and a clean character reference could assist any potential move to another club.

If Hurrell remains at the Warriors, he faces the prospect of playing the rest of the season in reserve grade.

Either scenario looms as sad and unfortunate, with the former Auckland Grammar 1st XV star having failed to reach his undoubted potential since being scouted by the Warriors in 2010.

His natural ability as a powerful ball-carrier makes him a threat to the best defensive sides in the competition, and he also possesses a neat sidestep and ability to create opportunities for his outside men.

But he has struggled for consistency, particularly on defence, and he was also forced to adjust his running style after kneeing incidents involving Cronulla's Anthony Tupou and Manly's Jake Trbojevic.

His footballing development has not been helped by the rotating cast of coaches at the Warriors in recent years, with Hurrell having debuted under Brian McClennan in 2012 before Matthew Elliott took charge in 2013, prior to McFadden's appointment after five rounds the following season.

Warriors fans would be loath to see him depart Mt Smart Stadium, but it appears his future lies beyond the Penrose-based club.

Sooner he secures a move, better for both club and player to be honest.

The club aren't getting value out of him obviously, and he isnt getting the game time that needs to develop further

Until then he can earn his keep. If he's on half a million a season, and we're short a centre this weekend, then he can bloody well get out there.

If we boot Hurrell, what chance of a run at Hayne?

Little to none I'd guess. Heard on the radio this morning if he returned to the NRL he already has a deal with the Roosters although the Eels are already claiming he had a deal for life with them and I cant see that happening in their current situation, but if thats true or not ,who knows.

Aitken may not be the 'talent' Konrad is, but I'm fairly certain he's not the dickhead Konrad is either.

If Aitken were to come (I'm not keen, FYI) all he'd have to do would be stay in NSW Cup, not be a complete jackass and permeate his unprofessional stench through the club and stay off social media, and we'd be happier (or I at least would be) with the swap.

Konnie got f**ked by the muppet Australian coaches the Warriors sign.. He hasn't helped himself but..

I'd love to see him at the storm. Imagine him with a coach who provides playing structure, a team that can defend across the park, forwards that consistently make the advantage line, and dominant hookers and halves. Everything we're not. If he goes there, I hope he grabs the chance with both hands, as likely last chance saloon for him.
