Hello all Rons

I caught a show on foxtels VH1 last night that would make you cream in your spandex.

It was called HEAVY the history of heavy metal.

It showed footage of all the stars .
Motley Crue, Judas Preist , twisted Sister , Poison , Skid row and some band called Ratt...just to name but a few.
It was a little hard to tell the difference between the bands and the groupies at times, but still a quality laugh.

They interviewed a whole bunch of blokes from these bands.
Funny to see how hard some of them have tried to hang onto that look.
Now the singer from Quiet Riot was probably the worst offender.
In their heyday he was going bald and had dark curly hair, but during what looked like a fairly recent interview he was sporting what looked a lot like a tina turner wig.
It was very sad.
Sebastion Bach has managed to hang onto his lady locks but has porked it up big time.
Dee Snider has aged quite well and spoke pasionatley about those days.
Tommy lee was good.

Now.. the singer from Warrant has now got my respect.
To set the scene my missus walked in and said is that the cherry pie band?
I said yeah.
Then they interviewed the singer who is looking average to poor these days.
He said the record company wanted them to do a song like "love in an elevator" so he went home and penned that corker "cherry pie".
He then said the record company changed the name of the record , the tour , the everything to cherry pie .
He said he wished he never wrote it and when he hears it it makes him want to shoot himself in the head.
bwhahahahahahahaha
the feeling is mutual.

They touched on the obligatory power balled phase to which Dee Snider wasn't happy about.

anyway I'm not trying to take the piss...well just a little bit.:D

funny stuff.
You guys would love it.
It was like a car crash ...I couldn't look away.

For all I know this is old news to you guys.

Those were the days.

I spoke to Sebastian Bach a few weeks back. Legend.

Quiet Riot were great - Come on Feel the Noize was awesome.

Dee Snider legend

The Warrant singer is Jani Lane. I had respect for him when he married the girl from the Cherry Pie film clip. She later married Vince Neil I believe.

Warrant were sh*t but they did have one brillaint song called Uncle Tom's Cabin.

By the way, G3 are touring in December

Bach looked like a hot looking chick in that "remember you" film clip.
My missus was upset he no longer looks that good/ladylike.
He could've done Pantene commercials.

Yeah "Come on feel" was a SLade cover.
They didn't even want to do it...it went no 1 in the US .
It didn't even chart for Slade in the US but it did everywhere else.

Randy Rhoads was one of the founding members. Things would have been a little different if he didn't leave to go with Ozzy.

I think the scariest thing BY FAR is that those bands are actually regarded as Heavy Metal

bahahaha

These are the sort of people who wouldnt know who Ministry was, even if they smacked them in the face. Heavy Metal my arse !! (which was my point in the Ministry thread but meh .. who cares )

Ok about Ratt.

They kept showing film clips of different vids and concert footage from all those bands and they would cut back to a quick comment or two from these guys.
Some bloke from Ratt was one of them...he was tall and skinny he looked a little like the singer from the cars.
They spoke a lot of sunset Bvld and they said in 83 84 85 86 you could walk down there any night of the week and see guys from Motley Crue , Ratt whoever.
They spoke about sex ...plenty going on.

They also went on about some other movie doco on heavy Metal , it had some bloke in a hotel pool skulling a bottle of vodka.

Had some good back stage footage as well.

One bit in particular that made me laugh.
Motley Crue come off stage all high fiving in their leotards and Tommy Lee walks past the camera and says
"Now that's a show"...

They didn't mention Dokken.
Blokes interviewed were
Bach
Tommy Lee
some other bloke from Motley Crue
that Ratt dude
Quiet riot singer
Quiet riot drummer
Brett Michaels ( poison????)
Dee Snider
Judas Preist singer
Ronnie James Dio
Cherry pie guy
Tommy Iomi
Geezer Butler
plus more........

there was a whole bunch of episodes. The Ratt stuff was in 2 and 3 I missed 1.
It then went onto "British steel" ...I eventually fell asleep it was getting late by then.

That doco you refer to Carcharias is The decline of western civilisation part II: The Metal Years.

That guy in the pool was Chris Holmes from WASP.

Nah he still kicking as far as I know.

He was married to Lita Ford if I recall correctly, that footage was more than likely filmed not long after their divorce, not entirely sure though.

my toughts exactly

hair bands=heavy metal for teeny boppers,

more like pop music

I know some people like this type of music, and its thier choice, but to label it as metal is a joke

Abit unfair to label Judas Priest a hair band or 'heavy rock', that's simply not true.
Still, nothing will be or ever will be as metal as ManOwar

Judas Priest singer looked like homo in those leather outfits.
He could've filled in for the biker in "The Village People".

He has the best scream in the world, easily.
& most hard/heavy rock bands & pop groups looked bloody gay in the mid 80's
