a good read today in this week's RLW regarding king's decision to stay with the dragons. he credits pricey with the reason he stayed over bennett. big wrap. he played 5/8 and lock before pricey made him into a hooker which sounds like its his favourite position. hopefully he gets a chance to work on a good combination over the next few years with his first league coach back in the under 6's. JAMIE SOWARD.
have a good long weekend fellow dragons. stay safe and bring on round 15, the start on the dragons charge home.:)

Price over Bennett that's encouraging, let's hope he gets a few more games in FG this year and becomes a permanent member of the top 17 soon.

Yeah really happy he stayed on. Had a terrible run with injuries but that double act of Rein/King could well be the key to the success of the Dragons over the next few years. Really hope we see it sooner rather than later.

I said earlier on in the year that the Rein/King hooker rotation will be the best in the NRL, & sooner than you think.

If Nathan Long ever gets back from injury,

LONG
REIN
the
KING

would have been the balls as a banner. Longy's knee injury is still nagging at him though and he could still be a couple of weeks off.

It's quite clear we need two...Rein has been dropping off with the increased workload off the longer he plays and obviously Fien can't last. King still needs to put some games together as well before he can hope to play 80

I think Bennett was the one that said a season or two ago that the days of the 80min hooker are coming to an end..probably get too burnt out over a season.

All the clubs that had 80min hookers (Melb,Dogs,Broncs,Tigers etc) now tend to have a bench hooker.

I hope the great Nathan Long gets royalties from all of the big hits highlights video he's been a part of (on the receiving end)

Price has a big decision to make; the King/Rein hooker rotation for which he will have to allocate one bench place to the hooker position or the Stanley/Hornby hand over for which he will need to allocate a bench spot to the halves position. I don't think it would be wise to run with both at once however, both situations need Price's urgent attention.

Alternative solutions such as swapping Hornby and Kyle during a game and sticking with Young as the alternate hooker/lock could work but might limit the teams capacity to bring King on and at the same time expose the backline defence while Hornby is in the centres.

In my opinion the halves problem needs the most urgent attention and needs to start from the next NRL game. It would be great if Price could recognise this and act accordingly.

What about Fein. He is a hooker to and he does have a hand resume. He has achieved a lot. He has been playing crap but he does provide some service though.

King plays 80 mins at hooker for the cutters.

Different level of intensity I would have thought.

Look there are some with huge motors that can do it, but the modern trend seems to be to have two. It's just a bonus if they're both quality. Certainly need a minimum of two on the books to allow for injury, rep duties, suapension and just plain attrition. In fact as we've already seen this year there's a benefit in having three on the books.

The other issue is that if either or both have a bit more versatility about them they can cover more than the dummy half role alone. The ability to jump into a halves or back row role is helpful as well. Further, mixing up the attacking thrust is another advantage. Some offer more of an impact or 'X factor' about them then others.

Just read the article on King in rugby League week.

Yeh he credits Price for his development, Price actually decided that he was going to be a Dummy half. As has been mentioned he was previously a 5/8.

Other interesting points were:

- He explains how he's mum gave him his opportunity by packing up the family from Wagga and moving to Sydney so he can play.

- Craig Young actually spotted him at a schoolboys comp in Toronto and signed him.

- He's actually Greg Alexanders brother in law, Brandy is married to his older sister.

- His reason for staying with the Dragons when Bennett tried to poach him was Steven Price, he brought him through the lower grades and wanted to stay loyal.

- Apparently Jamie Soward coached him when he was in the under 6's!

Not much else. It goes on to discuss how he has recovered from his latest injury setbacks.

Good little read.

Hasn't King only played in 4 or 5 games for the Cutters? Someone over in Jubilee has posted some reports, mostly that he was playing 40-60 minutes and wasn't setting the world on fire but was clearly better than the opposition. I thought he had only played 80 minutes once as he has been coming back from injuries.
