I’ll give Griffin a chance, and he might surprise me, but I’m not at all confident.

Mary wasn’t much for game plans, that’s true. But surely you’ve seen Griffin’s 1 page sheet he gave to Panthers players in 2018?

Yeah. I value what Cam says over NoEffortNorman and Tariq Sims.

I don’t want to be intentionally negative, but the club IMO is a mess and is only getting worse.
I was critical of Mary at the time, but the timing of his sacking was poor. Nothing major IMO will improve.

But I have an open mind. My view on Griffin could change if they do alright in 2021, but I honestly just cannot see it happening.

Going off what you have said I’m failing to see an open mind. But that’s your right.

Who knows, Cam leaving the club might be a blessing.
Clune is the better 7 at the club
Hunt is the better 9 at the club
And I believe Bird Will be the best Lock at the club if he can stay healthy

I understand 22 that you were a fan of Mcwrecker but if you really think we would be better off letting him see out the season well that is not within my comprehension. At least his sacking showed us that Young was certainly not the answer.
Young had no idea.
Do I think Mary has it to be a top notch coach? No.
Do I respect Mary?
Yes.

The way the handled his sacking and the timing of it was poor. If they wanted to do it, the should have done it after season 2019.
Sacking him mid season 2020 wasted the rest of the season with L Plate Young.

I think Mary had to be, and was going to be moved on eventually. So I would have waited until the end of 2021 to hand over to Shane Flanagan.
McInnes definitely would have stayed under both of them. And so would Dufty.

We are shot merkins.
This’ll be another half assed player just like Tyson last year
All signs are that McInnes will leave early. But we don't need Woods as a swap, we need a hooker and possibly a lock. I've still got my fingers crossed that De Belin will become available and that Bird will continue to become fitter.

I hope we snare B. Smith and if we can't, then it will be McCullough at hooker. Griffin will get him to play the we he wants his hooker to play.

Right. Fair enough.
I have to agree with him though that he deserves a new contract. Waiting to the very end only increases the chances of him leaving.
He deserves a new contract now.
He, along with McInnes and Dufty were easily the best players of 2020.

Why now ? Why not see if he can play to the new coaching staffs game plan ( at least we have one now ).I agree that at least he should be told that they will review his contract 6 to 8 games in but if he is not invested in that perhaps his play will reflect this and he will deserve to go anyhow.

our club is too dopey to go after an established first grader. The roosters lose a player like tuivasa Shek and replace him with Tedesco. We lose McInnes and replace him with the likes of McCullough. We are a f**king joke of a club. f**king spastics.

It's a 2 year deal which he has not even started 1 game yet so give the guy a chance.
Griffin has Elliott as his assistant which I think is a huge bonus when it comes to game plans. The defence will improve and that will be a huge step forward I feel.

The fact Cam did not give Hook a chance from day 1 says more about him than Hook. I would be moving him on now rather than keep him for the year with an attitude like that. It will only bring negativity to the squad if he is against the coach.

Sharks promised Dugan fullback because he did not want to play in the centres. hmm that turned out well. McInness wants to play lock, give it a few games and he will probably be hooker. Why, because he won't have a player like Hunt playing hooker to make him look good. Hunt is 10 times the better hooker than Brailey.

I think that was a beat up. What is a game plan supposed to look like anyway? And does the head coach do it anyway? What are assistants for? That looked like a rough draft.

The Panthers finished one win behind the minor premiers in 2018. He must have been doing something right.

I never thought I’d be writing this.
But getting rid of McGregor when the club did was a big mistake. Young had no idea and the club lost games to low opponents and got smashed. Finals hopes easily crushed.
Then they appoint Griffin who has a tough approach that gets people off guard and already has with McInnes, and maybe even more.

Now I know Mary isn’t a popular guy on here. And I’m sure he himself would even admit he’s not a top notch coach. But he has passion, he cares and he loves his players. And I am confident not one player he coached during his time at the club had a problem with him. In 7 years not a problem. And that’s his job. He shouldn’t be looking to create tension with players. It’s his job to work with the team.

We have a coach now who hasn’t even been here for a year and has already ruffled feathers with a player, the most important player. Griffin hasn’t even respected the club captain enough, he gave up and tried pursuing players who are far less superior to Cam and much older. Griffin has caught Cam offside and his leadership style is to give up on him.
It seems clear to me as well that the board didn’t even consult the players for replacing Mary and made yet another terrible decision as the club so often does.
You watch Dufty go to Cronulla too.
And how disrespectful of Griffin to go to his mate Hadley to attack McInnes. How low.

And let’s not forget that flop Millward made all recruitment decisions from 2017 onwards, and he couldn’t even select his team at times.

My point is. We all thought the McGregor period of 2014-2020 was the worst. I’m afraid the next few years will be even worse. The roster is far worse, and now we have a coach who has in the past and already, has caught players and eventually his team off guard.

This hopeless board should have kept Mary for 2021 and then handed over to Flanagan.
Wtf....

Bar his heart, I don’t know where this tag of ‘world class’ is coming from. He’s above average at best in his best position and the more I think about it he looked good in the McFail years because he was about the only player putting in for the coach. Imagine a team who collectively buy into the plan, and I think that’s the biggest point here.. if he wants to sook and not give his all he can bugger off. Although I don’t approve of the potential purchase Mccollough can also make 45-50 tackles a game and offer very little in attack so we haven’t lost much

What annoys me is how the players and mates are the last to know.
It comes out before that.
Are these guys like Mcinnes so naive not to think on their own.
Cause they talk a lot of Crap.
They aren't frigging babies.
The McInnes situation is now untenable...We will have enough distractions with the De Belin saga , yet again , and this on top...
All the right things will be said by CM to the playing group
He can't possibly retain the Captaincy
Tariq should be announced asap as Captain
Griffin was brought in for this exact purpose,,,,Clear the decks , and bring in Juniors and others that genuinely want to play for this Great Club
This Club needs a clean slate to start the Season..If it means granting McInnes an immediate release so be it !!!

Can we all just admit that if McGregor had presided over this f@#ken disaster we would all be going absolutely crazy and our heads would be exploding at the moment...

Griffin surely could have sat down and ironed out any differences he had with BY FAR OUR BEST PLAYER AND OUR CAPTAIN for Christ's sake, and now we have lost the shining light of the last few seasons...

This whole situation stinks to high heaven...

Coach's need to be tacticians as well as man managers and i am starting to think Griffin is probably only good for one of those and you don't have to be Einstein to work out which one...

Signing fringe first graders...signing a player who has had serious shoulder and sternum injuries and has done two cruciate ligaments in the last two seasons, and by all accounts wanting to sign a 31 YEAR OLD Andrew Mccullough to multi year deal...

What the f@#k is going on...

I hope he proves me wrong but I've been far from impressed with our new coach's decision making so far and i am seriously starting to think that maybe the club should have gone in a different direction...

I wonder if Bennett would have made the decisions that Griffin has made as far as recruitment goes and not making Cam's retention a priority, if he had come back to the club

I doubt it...
So far we have only heard part of the story but I have heard enough to say that I think Griffin showed great poise to be rather quet about all of htis. McInnes just did not want to be coached by Mary's replacement.

If McInnes preferred McGregor as a coach then I’m glad he’s leaving.
It’s unbelievable that McGregor is gone but his stench is still stinking up the place.
Seems to me that Griffin knew this was going to happen hence the rumours around other hookers being chased.

Yeah I agree. Clune is better at 7, and Hunt at 9.
But Griffin doesn't seem to think so. He wants Hunt at 7 and McCullough at 9. What a joke of a paring that is.
I would have Cam at 13, but this club has let him go. He is a great 13.
Bird is unproven. We will see how he goes. I'll give him some time.

I agree with you mate. He was an average attacking hooker but he had heart and tackled all day. I think he was also too small to be a top forward. And if he’s upset because Mcdumbmerkin left then f**k him off now. My issue is. We’re losing all these players but not signing anyone of note. We’re doing the shitty Illawarra thing of signing has beens and hoping a decent junior comes through

Why now?
He is easily the best player of 2020.
He has speed, a top passing game, and is the side's best attacking asset.
