Come on now, if McInnes was still unsigned, the Sharks would not have signed him at all. They would have moved on to another player.
Don’t agree with that... one acl doesn’t necessarily ruin a career. I have no problem with the fact we’ve signed him for the following 4 years tbh. The fact Jack Bird has only played 17 games in the last 3 years including 2 acl’s in the last two years didn’t put you guys off.

St George Illawarra have provided the following injury update on Cameron McInnes, who has injured his anterior cruciate ligament.

McInnes suffered the injury during a training session on Friday morning.

The 27-year-old is yet to undergo follow up consultations to establish the next steps in his recovery and return to play timeframe.

You do realise that he’s still contracted to you guys? He has a full season of rest and rehab (paid by you) then will be fresh as a daisy for ‘21.
Good and so we should rehabilitate him. That is what contracts are for and perfectly shows why he was after a 4 year deal. In hindsight it turned out to be a masterstroke by him didn’t it. I wish him well.

Ex Saints junior at work comments:

a) the injury confirms the clubs suspicions about his longevity in the game and confirms the appropriateness of the clubs shorter term offer.

b) he should be stood down from all formal duties with the club to focus on his recovery and transition away from being a club asset.

c) the case for salary cap relief must be pursued.

d) not ready to propose a captain at this time

e) appreciates Dufty building up his physique. Getting strong for 21.

Not sure why Dufty was mentioned -but so be it.

Someone here on dragons lu said he was being held together by sticky tape. Can’t remember who it was. Prophetic. Should have emailed Hook.

A touch of buyers remorse for the Sharks I’d say. They’d be very disappointed.

Sorry but point a) is utter bollocks.

An ACL injury can strike anyone at anytime regardless of age or fitness level.

Your "ex saints junior at work" should know that...

Nope he’s not wearing that.

He said “everyone knew he had bad knees.”

He said they “could tell that at training.”

That’s his honest view.

McInnes busts his ass week in week out for 80 mins making 50+ tackles and is the fittest player in the red V. Sorry but you don’t pull that off with “ bad knees “. I think “ your mates “ info is a little off

“ bad knees “ like Dean Young, Shaun Timmins etc could barely get through a game then not train all week until the captain’s run the day before

Yes, Dragon D,

We can't seem to win a trick of late ................ sorry for Cam and thankful for McCulloch coming.
On a positive side of things, hopefully a junior can step up and seize the moment.
I don't know if anyone else has posted this, but I think we still need to pay McInnes some $400,000 for the remainder of this year and we won't be getting anything for it. What a joke if this is the case.

Does anyone know if we can get some help like get another player as a substitute for McInnes which will not affect our salary cap or do e have to wear the full cost?

Don’t think so DD. Just plain bad luck and we wear it unfortunately

That’s fine but I clearly disagree

That’s ok.

If he’s wrong he’s wrong. He’s a good guy, mad and passionate sgi. All the way.

My own disappointment with Cam is that he should have backed himself and stayed for the shorter term sgi deal when offered.

Especially as he is a very good player and you would think he would hold his own and earn the extra years easily.

But the longer offer appears and he turns his back on sgi. And in doing so, he gave up his legend status, the chance to walk amongst the greats of the club. Immortality in a way.

And I honestly feel he didn’t think that through.

Looking at it another way, let’s say he was offered two by sgi, and then he’s risking 2 extra years which he would have got under the Sharks. So he gives away eternity for 2 seasons worth.

He has the money already. All these elites are wealthy.

And if the club didn’t pick him up in 2 years time, then he can still say he was legend. But when he turns his back, that’s harder to sustain. And you guys talk DNA and he was a piece waiting to join that thread.

Its his decision, but I think he really didn’t think about the benefits of sgi old boy or another Mary type or whatever ( In terms of club etc future opportunity).

I’m into player worship, but clubs count too and I’d say this about any club. It’s a two way street.

As good as he is, your club helped make him shine brightly and a lot of your people helped him up. He wasn’t really anything before he started with you.

That’s just my view on Cam. Maybe he’s too young to appreciate the benefits of club greatness. Youth being wasted on the young etc!

That is terrible news for Cam. He is a courageous player and an ACL is a most serious injury.

Some players come back from it ( I think Teddy and big Welsh from the storm). Others well ACL hounds them. The classy Kyle Stanley for us couldn’t take a trick.

Best wishes for him to recover well and continue to be the lion heart he is.

Also we lose a top player before a ball is kicked.
