Care to share the 60:40 stat of Matai?

Have a look at the finals series (and any other big game) of the last 4 years sweetheart and you will notice that Steve Matai is the one player who always stands up for Manly, Win Lose or Draw. Case in point 2007 GF he was really the only player who had a go for Manly.

Great effort from 1-17, particularly the fill in players.

Watmough was ok, played the villain well.

My opinion is no different from our last meeting with the Dragons, their defence is brilliant but our attack is beyond ordinary. Not convinced the they will win anything if they fall a bit behind in a match which may not happen any time soon with defence like that.

Disappointing way to go out in the finals, even taking into account all the missing players. Could've lead at halftime with all the looks at the Dragon's line. Were clueless in attack. Do they only have 1 backline move? What do they practise in attack?!?! Only went for one 40-20 and 2 chip kicks in the 2nd half and not using the wind. Soft try to Gaz when Manly had 3 on 2. Im glad Trex is leaving. He's great with his few runs, but the rest of his game is sh*te.
Dragon's were in 3rd gear all game till the last quarter. Honestly, they were pretty bad the first half. Only Manlys pathetic attack flattered their defence. They will need to play better the next game.
I reckon Manly need a new coach and some new players next year. Our playmakers arent doing enough.

The attack was sh*t, worse than it has been during the season, but they were new combinations on both edges, no Matai on the left, no G. Stewart or Williams on the right.

T-Rex isn't leaving as far as I know.

Gasnier's try was soft, but he did only bump off Foran, the poor bastard's shoulder is being held together with tape at the moment.

But the team had all their key positional playermakers. Do they have any other backline move apart from the short ball/decoy with fullback sweeping behind? So predictable. No inside balls, no guys running into space...
Damn, I suddenly thought T-rex was going to England. Does that guy use his brain? He hardly runs at Soward whose his opposing defender, then doesnt help Foran on Gaz. He cant positionally defend at wing, so I dunno why he's defending at centre.

Just because we had a half and a 5/8 out there doesn't make them the key play makers, they kick and distribute the ball to the real play makers.

Our play maker on the right (Lyon) was missing Williams on his outside and Stewart on his inside.
Our play maker on the left (Farrar) was missing Matai on his outside and had a busted Watmough on his inside.

Hodkinson is not a play maker and Foran is not quite there yet and hasn't been fully fit since the first quarter of the season.

I can't blame T-Rex, he was out of position out of necessity.

From what I've seen and heard, DCE is a better half than Hodkinson anyway. Takes on the line a lot more and has a better attacking style.

His combo with Foran next season (given they played U/20's together) should help the attack flow. Add to that we should have Stewart back at fullback and either David Williams or Oldfield on the wing (PLEASE Des) then I think things are looking up for 2011 from a points scored perspective.

Front row is what worries me. I saw a gorrilla in our U/20's front row tearing up the Warriors and then I hear he's off to the bloody Roosters !! We have Rose, Kite and King next year. Have we picked anyone up or is there a lower grader on the horizon to bring something to the table?

Anyway, bring on 2011...

T-Rex is leaving?

We need a new coach?

Was impressed with Oldfield yesterday, he was reliable when required and made some decent defensive reads.

Makes the loss of Farrar a bit easier to handle.

Yeah I rate Oldfield. Can take Robbo's spot next year.

Wow. I get grilled on hear for calling for Williams to be replaced...

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but you would seriously rather Robbo gets the chop ahead of Tony Williams?

On what basis- speed? ability to read a play? reliability? enthusiam? experience? Without wanting to flog a dead horse, I can think of others in the team who don't possess those skills to the level of Robertson.....

But it will be great to have the luxury of arguing who gets in and who doesn't rather than asking who have we got left to use!!

Cunningham is a good prospect in the 20's, a prop with a huge motor.

Lussick was killing it in the under 20's last year, not sure how he went for SCSE, but would have been called upon if he wasn't injured for the last few months.

Higgins (captain) is all class, will be a full time hooker in the NRL in the next few years (maybe use him as a bench hooker?).

I wouldn't be upset with Oldfield and Hoppa as our wingers for next year.. Don't think Whare will get past Matai and Lyon.
