Nobody's doubting Hazem's playing ability! If you look around this forum and even others, you'll see most of us defended his ability when people said he was "just a goalkicker". The point is, having watched Turner late this year, we've got a very valuable acquisition, moreso than Hazem, who was in his twilight in 2009.

You have to remember BF that Hazem has slowed considerably in recent times, which is natural given his age.

I've always felt that Hazem has been a player with good instincts in both attack and defense, it's just that physically he's not the same player he once was.

I'm sure we'll lose something in terms of his presense, as he's been in the team for so long. Not to mention it will be wierd to see someone else taking the goal kicking duties

It's just that considering his lose, I think we were fortunate to be able to acquire someone of Turner's abilities.

Yeah there's no doubt about that. I don't know it's just going to feel very weird not seeing Hazem out there next year. I mean I'm going to have to start getting used to seeing Turner chase down Noddy's kicks.

you watch turner, he'll be well positioned and calling for cross-field kicks in our own half around the half-way and giving us more attacking options then we could possibly have hoped to have with hazem.

Tbh I'm quite happy with our centres and wingers for next season.

The Morris - Goodwin combination has already proved to be lethal while Idris and Turner has the potential to be just as good, especially if Idris can raise his game.

Barba played there last year and i dont see whats so funny about it if Patten goes down. The guy isnt the best defender but is a good option as back up at the fullback spot.

From an outsiders point of view, I have always thought very highly of Andrew Ryan.

A clubs "clubman" so to speak and an excellent captain. How do the regular posters on this forum think of him?? From a personal perspective, I'd have him at Saints in a minute; great player, great leader.

Hard worker and a very good captain but as he ages he's becoming prone to errors all over the shop.

ryan had hands like feet at parra, his errors are nothing new. Ryan looked like he'd rediscovered some of his mojo earlier in the year but sadly it didn't last. He's just a solid 1st grader really.

also barba at f/b is not so dissimilar to a young matty bowen at fullback. gotta learn somehow. But geez he was ordinary in the nsw cup grand final against ordinary opposition. I wouldn't be surprised if he struggles forever to hold down a 1st grade spot.

Ryan is a great player. And a great captain. I can't believe people think so poorly of him.

His defence is second only to David Stagg and his work rate is higher than anyone in the team. The way he just tackles his butt off, captains the side so well and then gets in there in attack. He has great balls skills and the way he puts people into gaps is great to watch.

He's a tremendous player and a tremendous captain. Very under rated by his own fans it seems, but not my me and certainly not by any players I can guarantee you that.

I don't underrate him, the only real negative I see in him is his errors...

Tbh I think his carries with the ball have lessened in quality as he's gotten older. Doesn't have the same spring in his legs.

His work-rate is unquestionable, which is why he's still an important part of the team. I actually agree with Jimmythehand in that I thought Ryan was playing great at the start of the season and I actually nominated him as one of the most under-rated players in the comp. However I think his form dipped as the season went on.

Still a valuable player but imo not as effective as he once was.

In regards to Kimmorley, what is the plan with him?

Does he see next year as his final season or does he intend to play on?

His original contract was 2 years with an option for a 3rd. So it looks like he will be able to play on in 2011 if he wants to, but I think he'll be too old as he's going to be 34 next year. I think he'll hang up the boots after 2010. He's already the oldest in the club and nearly the oldest in the game!
