No, I am for the captains challenge. The stoppages don't really worry me its more about trying to get people to stop complaining about refereeing decisions to me.
But you want more stoppages at the same time as you whinge about the game being boring. #logic

I dont get it...

Is this just a way to encourage refs to point straight to the spot rather then checking every thing?

Theyd check almost every try as it is.

The refs will have to call it as they see it. The only reason a try will go to the bunker is because the captain wants to challenge a referees decision. It will greatly reduce the usage of the bunker.

The only modification I would like to see is that it can't be used to challenge obstruction. Only grounding should be reviewed.

And it's going to greatly increase the amount of incorrect decisions.

And it's going to greatly increase the amount of incorrect decisions.

The only problem with that is that the broadcasters and commentators will make such a big deal out of it with replays and analysis etc.
The NRL should bargain with the networks to allow more advertisement slots (40 second break for ad time before line drop out and scrum for example) in exchange for less replays and analysis of bad refs decisions. Show it once and get the hell on with it.

Yeah. They get everything right with the Bunker now don't they? I can live with them making a mistake when they have to make a decision on the go. That's sport.

Say you're a defending team and the ref calls a No Try. He rules a goal line dropout and you believe he has cocked that decision up and it should be a 20 metre restart.

Can you refer it on a captains challenge in the hope they still call No Try but reverse the drop out call?

I'd prefer the NRL minimises the amount of mistakes made. This isn't going to do that at all.

This is a winner. The game is flowing a lot more without fifty replays of every try.

I'd tweak it and make it a coach's challenge. The captain may not be in a good position to make a call - a coach is theoretically seeing the whole field.

I love this, so much better. I have wanted them to do it this way for the last 10 years. Yes someone had some point is going to get burnt from it, but teams are getting burnt all time anyway. This allows the game to flow, we don't lose the moment. In my opinion this is perfect.

Maby captain or coach?

It'd be almost impossible for the players to call for a review for an offside, that last Knights try was close, while the coach wouldn't see a knock on from up in the box without technology.

It doesnt with everythinf else. I remember when andrew johns was saying shit like "the ref has had an opinion for 105 years. He needs to send it up as try or no try and they over turn it" and everyone on facebook jumps on it. 2 years later "they are just guessing tjey need a video refs call" and then all the idiots on facebook jump on that too.

if the referee pulls up an obstruction while the attacking team has made a line break does the attacking team defy that and play on going for the try with the intention of possibly then contesting the obstruction call?

I don't see how they could. If the referee blows the whistle play comes to a halt.

thats how I see it which means that refs will probably stop calling obstructions in those situations and leave it up to the captains to decide to challenge or not.

It worked great today. Keep in mind none of the tries were contentious though. We all know they would have wasted time looking at them with the bunker regardless but it's not always going to be as smooth as it was in this game.
