Captains Challenge will be trialled in Newcastle v Illawarra plodfest this weekend

Say you're a defending team and the ref calls a No Try. He rules a goal line dropout and you believe he has cocked that decision up and it should be a 20 metre restart.

Can you refer it on a captains challenge in the hope they still call No Try but reverse the drop out call?

You would still have used up your captains challenge on an incorrect challenge but if you get a 20 Mtr tap instead of a dropout it's probably worth it.

Particularly if it's around the 30 min mark of a half as you get another one at the 35 min mark.

The thing i like about this idea is that it stops the players whinging...

They cant run up to the ref every time and scream "check it". If it is their decision, they need to use restraint. Any f*ckup is their own fault
