I'd rather us bring back Scott Dureau, Reegan Tanner, Kirk Reynoldson and Sean Rudder than see that mong at our club.

Yes.
The fear and hatred for people with mental illness is beneath us.
He will be a challenge for our medical staff, but they are the best equipped in the League to do the job.

Joey got cutting edge treatment for his mental illness for over 5 years at our club while playing at the highest possible level and dealing with serious physical injuries as well. If our medical staff can do that, they can help anyone.

All we should care about is the 80 minutes he puts in once a week. Despite the Telegraph being fixated on demonising him for his mental illness, it's none of our business as long as he can get the help he needs to get his shit together enough to do his job.

If there was actually a remote chance that he wouldn't be a complete numpty off the field then yes, but that's remote so no.

Such a waste of talent.

I dont get this the league needs to take care of him?

Seriously if he pulled this shit in any other workplace he'd have been blacklisted years ago, that's what his family are for.

Plus I am not sure I buy it, I still suspect his just a little bitch that cant stay off the piss to be honest.

If he begged the club, told them he was going to do all the right things, get all the right help.... I'd still give him a very big, never been so sure of anything in my life NO!

Hmmmmmmmmm Let me see.

Halves: Mullen, Stig, Roberts and Gidley.....

I am glad to see most people aren't even contemplating the drunk.

Mate if he could get clean and show his 2010 form, of course you would more than consider it. He has had to many chances now however

If there is one man that won't tolerate his crap and could get the best out of him, it is Wayne Bennett.

Yes. At his best he is the one thing that could get us a premiership.

Forget about Bedsy, move Gidley to Hooker, Mullen and Carney in the halves. A Boyd/Carney/Mullen/Gidley spine would be unbelievable.

If Carney cleaned up his act for a season, was a model citizen, and was playing like he did in 2011 I'd take him in a heartbeat.

I think we have to be serious about him - he doesn't do anything illegal. He has a drinking problem but he doesn't want to give it up. So the thing is whichever club takes him on has to help him manage his drinking rather than forcing him to give it up.

If it was a drug problem that is one thing. But it isn't. He isn't breaking laws.

Put an effective plan and work with him rather than place restrictions on him and you'll get the best out of him. Simple.

I would say yes because if there's one man that can help him turn it around it's Wayne Bennett. The guy has unlimited potential.

It didn't help his cause that he lived in the heart of party central at the Roosters with all the other wannabe rockstars. We have a bunch of good guys at Newcastle that can encourage him to turn it around.

If you think he is just a drunk you're kidding yourself. The guy is depressed and needs all the help he can get.
