I am disappointed they didn't get more of a replacement for Vince himself, like a good shooting guard or small forward. They did get much-needed rebounding help, though I wish the 3 guys weren't all so old. The commentators on the Raptors-Pacers game last night were saying there will be more trades, especially if Zo doesn't want to report to Toronto.
If the draft picks produce something good then the Raptors can improve in the next few years, building around Chris Bosh. And I don't count them out of the playoffs yet in the weak Atlantic division.
Living near the Toronto media, and seeing almost every Raps game on TV, I think VC had to go. He asked to be traded, he's been averaging about 15 ppg, and he continues to play without heart or toughness. His stock is far below what it was a few years ago. Would anyone take him straight up for Paul Pierce, or Jefferson, or Ray Allen. A few years ago he was considered better than guys like that, not any more. I predict he may have a few good games early for the Nets, but overall he won't live up to the potential he showed back in his first few years.
I agree that it's a puzzling trade for NJ - they were already missing KMart, and now they trade 3 big men for a small forward who plays terrible defense? When they already have Jefferson, a similar player (though better defender). The Nets may produce some excitement with Kidd, RJ and VC, but they're going to get killed on the boards.
