That is beautiful!

Only problem is we have so many players I'd love to watch!

And I think Pearson will be great for us - he may not be the best, but he's tough and takes no crap.

At a time whe everyone bags our forwards' spirit, he can get them going again.

BTW, if Hindy plays lock, Vella and Caylo in the second row ... What about Lee? Off the bench you reckon?

sure, put em there for the trials, but that dont mean play them there for sure in the real games. I'd be more inclined to switch one of them there to begin with and keep the other one in the front row due to the fact they have experience there for us.

Personally, I don't see Cayless playing back there. He is just too damned tough and would be missed up the front, no matter who they replace him with. Vella could probably make the move well, but keep K-Lo in the 8!

I don't know HJ. As much as I love seeing the number eight on his back the thought of K-Lo in 12 alongside Hindy makes the heart pound. We gain a bloke that oppositions will be looking out of the corner of their eye for likle they used to when we had Muggo, Deano, and Ian in the back row.

We can then rotate some big blokes like Cannings, Pearson, Tsoulos, Vella and Armit at 8 and 10.

I agree with HJ. Nath will stay in the front row for mine. Vella is a totally different story. I believe Vella will accept any position he is instructed to play this year. I expect a massive year from the tranny! Just mark my words. Don't give up on him yet peoples. He copped a lot of crap last year and he may very well make a lot of people eat humble pie. This could very well be in the 2nd row. HHHMMMM!!!

The oly issues are that someone has to miss out. My guess will be Lee and Dean, which is a shame especially for Hopkins who had an exceptional year in 2003.

Have we ever had this much depth????????????????

Personally, I would seriously consider boycotting the Eels if Hopkins doesn't get a go.

FAir dinkum, he was one of our very best this year. How would you guys feel if Morris suddenly wasn't good enough for the number 9?

If ANYONE deserves a spot in the 17, week in week out, I believe it to be Morris, Hopkins, Lyon, Burt and Hindmarsh (also captain Cayless). But more so Lee and Morro - their efforts were superhuman.

I would not be pleased if they decided that Hopkins was not worthy of a starting or bench spot. I mean the guy played 5/8, hooker, second row and lock and did very well in each. That is not something you can say about anyone.

Lee Hopkins will be a major factor in the eels season next year and Brian Smith knows it. He will be playing a major role.

I think that Hoppo's versatility may see him stray from the starting side however his speed and accelleration late in the game as a running backrower or out of dummy half would be immeasurable. I can't see Smith forsaking him for anyone else. [-X

I can

Unfortunately.

Lee is a great player and top bloke but the way it is looking at the moment you are going to need a touch of class to play in this pack in 2004. Nothing would suprize me at this stage.

Who else would like to see Hindmarsh at Lock???

Wagon may be the player to miss out.....

Whatever happens it has to be critical to make sure our young players like Tsoulos and Armit get enough game time in first grade or we will again lose top quality young players to other clubs. It simply cannot happen!!!!!!

Hindy often plays at 5/8 when a scrum is formed giving us an advantage on the first play. So no i dont think he should move to lock. Wagon is a a great lock anyway.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Smithy return to the tactics of 2001.
Have players moving around a fair bit.

Cayless will probably stay in the front row.
Cannings Prop
Vella in the second row/prop
Hindy second row/lock/Centre
Wags Lock/ 5/8/centre
Hopkins Back row/ hooker/ 5/8
Morris Hooker/Half/ 5/8

and so on.

It will be rare to see guys cement positions, they will rotate around on the field more ie Hopkins may start at Hooker then go to 2nd row for a bit while Vella has a spell and Morris goes to Hooker for the rest of the game. then when Vella comes back on Hopkins goes to lock. blah blah blah

There will be so many possible combinations, this will give them the edge because it will make them harder to coach against.

It may keep the boys on their toes a bit more too as there will be more competition for spots in the 17.

Who knows, we'll find out soon though

BRING IT ON !!!!!!!!!!!! :D

and with so many of our old reggies boys having moved on, we might once again have a First Division team that we recognise, lol

It may also create insecurity in a player if he doesn't know from week to week where he will be playing.
I would like to think that Morris, for example, would think he is the best hooker in the club and will stay in that position until someone better comes along or deserves his position. Not think that he will be hooker this week and half back next week. Where is the stability in that?

By the way H, nice performance the other morning on Sunrise. :D
E-Type Jazz are one classy outfit.

hahaha maybe hindy could move to prop

and still play 80 minutes, of course

it might sound corny, but i believe the heart of our team is hindy, burt and hopkins. these guys have to play whenever they're available

will wagon be given first chance at lock next year? our "player of the year" certainly doesn't deserve it

with all these second rowers, maybe hindy could even move to the centres. imagine that - hindy and lyon. it's good enough to make an old man splooge again

Yeah, Caylo is a dead set front rower.

Remmember last season when we done the Sharks about a million to nothing, Caylo broke the line out wide and ran as far as he coulf then fell over.........the try line.

Can't see him doing that on a regular basis tho, that Hindy's job.

He is one of the best props around.

If it aint broke, don't fix it.
