Central Coast Bears

Adelaide would have met the criteria if given a chance. It was a big mistake cutting them at the end of '98 since they had built up an awesome team for '99 - if allowed to compete they would have made the 8.

Well now that I have heard that the Gold Coast are favourites, I am thinking the NRL may well have some decent intelligence on board.
I am sick of hearing about Singo's money - what if he gets hit by a bus tomorrow and his heirs have no interest in supporting yet another NSW team.

The same applies to Paul Broughton who is funding the Gold Coast!

The Hypocracy from some of you is incredable! What do the Sharks plan an doing when News with draws it's funding from you in 2006!

Meh. I just want a 16th team I don't care where. The Central Coast is all but a union town thanks to manly.

Firstly the Central Coast is still all rugby league, and how can you blame Manly? We stayed up there visiting schools and other things to promote the game, but the Central Coast people didn't want us so we went back to Brookvale. Its not Manly's fault the CC don't have a team, its the CC people's fault, I just feel sorry for the 4000 or 5000 people who showed up all the time.

*stands and applaudes* Now thats a decent point!

As a student on the central coast - Manly didn't go to any schools. The bears did. Jason Taylor used to go to schools in his own time. He used to go before school started go help kids with goal kicking, during lunch he would come too. Manly never came. Some rugby union team came but manly didn't.

If Norths fired Toovey and Manly jnrs do you think people would have showed up at Brookvale? Jesus you get crowds of 7000 now. I would have hated to of seen the manly crowds if manly were given the same treatment as the bears.

It is Manlys fault. They never wanted to be on the CC. They let all the jnrs go (Orford, Stringer, O'Meley) and if they picked any bears players (Taylor) they were screwed. Players like Andrew Frew got picked when they turned down people like Billy Moore, Larson - all highly respected people in the bears and on the central coast. Manly did what they could to stay alive. They raped North Sydney and the Central Coast.

How you can have Manly in the comp with their crowds of 7000 and watch Rugby Union sell out the Central Coast whenever they do anything is beyond me. I'm not saying kick Manly out but I don't think you can have the CC just sitting there when they have the jnrs, money and support. But also a Gold Coast team is needed...

What a load of rubbish.....Manly did not let those players go,a board made up of Manly and norths FC called the Northern eagles did.O'meley left because of the financial mess the club was in and was worried if he would get his paycheque,if things were rosier he would have stayed(he said so himself.Ordford left cause Kimorley was coming and didn't want to play anywhere but half(very bad call in hindsight) but make no mistake the club WANTED orford to stay.

How well did the likes of moore and larson's career go after they were cut from the list.....I think that answers itself(both great queenslanders in their day).
You guys must all go to the same School of the Distorted Truth (SDT) to be able to twist the facts for your own benifits so well.....How about giving yourself a slap in the ear count to ten and take those red & black rose coloured glasses off.

Remind me again what the Crowds for Gordon Rugby Union playing on the Central Coast in 2003 were again ????

Oh that's right....... Gordon didn't play on the Central Coast in 2003 after their crowds were such a flop in 2002 (despite all Singo's free tickets).

The Rugby World Cup was an EVENT and it sold out matches all over Australia, there was nothing special about the Central Coast's crowds.

The reality was different. The high loss of NS personnell at the beginning of the Joint venture happened while the Administrator for NS was in control and before any board member or club member had any input. Manly took advanage of this situation and ensured the team had their coach their captain their jersey and mainly their players. (Try this link to my site of my answer to a Peter Peters letter)

http://members.dodo.net.au/~littlefamily/Letters.html

The fial mass exit of NS players happened in the last year of the Northern Eagles when Manly were in total control. The same period in which Peter Peters failed to successfully market a Manly run Northern Eagles to the CC.

I'm sorry you disagree with us mate but nobody's distorting anything. Everybody thought The Northern Eagles was Manly dominated even supporters of other clubs. You can't blame the people of the CC for that.

If the players appreciate the 2 byes during the season, then why dont we include both, have 17 teams in the comp, i dont know, i feel both areas should have a team. I totally agree about norths getting shafted, they took the innitiative to move out of sydney, they did what the league wanted, they got shafted. The central coast has always proved to be wealthy in jnr rugby league talent.
The gold coast also gets my vote for an nrl team, they have a large area, with an equally large population, there has to be a second team in the brisbane vacinity.
Some might talk about player numbers to support 2 new teams but i feel if you start these 2 new teams you will have enough playing strength to cover them.

If only the NRL would actually do this. Considering Singo is offering the CC as virtually self funded it sems quite possible. Heck considering the new sponsership that the NRL is getting and the additional sponsership from the GC and CC is not 18 (Adalaide/Perth/Wests?) possible?

I have a confession to make at this stage The Gold Coast used to be my second team. So I woul;d love to see both.

NOW HOW IRONIC IS THAT COMING FROM A BEARS MAN!

My cousin lives up on the CC and he has told me about times when Manly came to visit their school and help them out with skills.

Manly didn't want to stay up there because the majority of the fans hated them. But we still played plenty of games there anyway. If the CC really wanted a team as much as they say they do they would have gone to all these games, then they could say that they don't want Manly anymore and they would prefer to have a go at getting their own team. The NRL could then see how much they could support a team and you guys would almost have the Bears playing there.

quite frankly, the people of the central coast deserve NOTHING !!

The way they treated the merger between two successful clubs is a disgrace. The NRL offered them a team and they decided to kick everyone in the arse.
What makes u think those inbreds wont do the same thing with the North Sydney Bears acting as the supposed Central Coast team? pffft use your brain ... they'll do it the same again and again until they cry like the babies they are until they have THEIR team.

Stuff em

Bring in anyone except the Central Coast imo !! Gold Coast get first shot though .. they NEVER treated anyone with disrespect.

I think CC need to wake up to themselves. CC treated what they had like garbage. Lets be honest most don't even want the Bears. They are petty and want a specific thing and thats it nothing else.

BRING ON THE GOLD COAST THEN SOUTHERN NZ
