Kali and Marlborough are the bolters.

Kali is the bargain pick up of the season. He is a genuine 23 year old fringe firstgrader with the potential to make the grade.

there has been a lot of talk for a long, long time regarding Kali. i've never seen the bloke play, but it would be nice if he came good. all props are very welcome to try their hand at the moment.

interesting to see Tets named in the front row.

Mika is so far down the pecking order now it's ridiculous. we're in trouble if we see him in first grade again.

god that Centurions looks a thousand times better than last years, though... without having a team sheet from last year to compare side by side, that is. the general vibe i get looking at that team is there are a lot more viable prospects for first grade than last year. i reckon they're going to go well this year.

Strong side.

Gone are the days of fringe NYC players making up the numbers for Centurions.

i'm going to go so far as to say that i wouldn't mind seeing any of that starting side step up into first grade in the case of injury, Kali the only possible exception depending on where he's at. that is good depth.

I'm going to try to make it to the game - I'm inspired by how many genuine potential first-graders are in that side.

If I do manage to get there I'll concentrate hard and post a full report on every player. It's not like I know a single person who would want to go and watch it with me, so I'll be alone and sober and taking careful note of individual performances hopefully.

Not up to speed on the other teams at all but surely that will be a very tough side to beat.

Says alot that a former standout in williams can't make the starting side.

The Bulldogs, Sharks (sharks/storm) and the Vulcans (warriors) are the other strongish sides on paper. All three have a lot of first grade potential and experience.

Is Ciraldo injured?

I think its mostly the fact our NRL squad is relatively healthy for once.

Last year we lost Wicks, Housten, Karawana for the season before a ball was kicked.

DeGois, Gidley, McManus, Maddog also missed round 1 last year.

The side could potentially have Naiqama, Ciraldo, Taufua/Tolar and Edwards in it too. But I guess Stone will always have a player or two on standby for FG, especially if they play after NSW cup like this week.

Tries: S McDonnell 2, K ODonnell, S Southern, C Mika, S Williams, C Marlborough
Conversions: P Matautia 6

Best win of the round so far with one game to play, so we should be top of the table after round one.

Bad news about Adams - suddenly we look very short of hookers. I suppose Chris Marlborough filled in.

Marlbrough came on at hooker for Adams. they lost a fair bit of momentum when that happened. kyle had a very quiet game. southern had a good game but the bench forwards had the most impact. mika, filipo and shillings really stepped it up a gear when they came on. Shannon had a good game except for one massive stuff up in goal that led to a try. starting props laid good foundation too. seemed like they made good meters. Windsor were pretty woeful but centurians only hit about 4th gear a couple of times. they had a lot more in them.

The hooker situation is a bit of a worry.
Marls will be good in a year or two, but no way could he play firstgrade as a hooker.
Mitch Williams is a livewire little guy who will fill the spot for centurions, but no way will he ever be a firstgrader.
I think they need to give Stig a crash course in hooker play - he has the passing game and knows the plays - he's the only bloke i can see we could get up to firstgrade standard in a hurry to cover for De Gois and Hilder.

Me and a couple of mates went out yesterday to perhaps the greatest day of Rugby League all season - Round 1 of the NSW Cup - 4 games in one game at Leichardt Oval.

It was a fantastic day and a shame the crowd wasn't bigger

Player of the Day - Ben Rogers stood out he was brilliant
Team of the Day - Central Coast and the Bulldogs both great
Biggest Dissapointment - Joel Reddy was non existent in that game and is no where near NRL on that performance

Team by Team
Central Coast v Windsor - Central Coast always had this in hand and won easily in the end with a bit more class

Central Coast - Were the best team of the day - Ben Rogers awesome he looked like Jonathon Thurston at this level, Keith Lulia will push for NRL and Shannon McDonnell was slick, these 3 along with a really solid Ryan Stig (lovley passing game) lead this team around and dominated

Windsor - Prob would have won either of the first 2 games but just outclassed, the Hooker Nafe Seluni was thier best , Taumata was solid and looked dangerous without breaking out, Dayne Weston as always did some magical things for a prop

Balmain v Dogs - Dogs showed just how useful lots of NRL players are at this level to win and Balmain were close

Dogs - As always in State Cup their superior pack was solid and rolled on and on, Micheal Lett was brilliant and should be playing NRL somewhere, Trent Cutler as always impressive - Romelo for mine isn't a half but with that side they should still win the comp

Balmain - Were good and only just lost this match and with the DOgs, Central Coast they will be a top side again. Mitch Brown was good when he was involved and so was Sam Latu, Nathan Waters doesent do much and the pack were solid but just a little outclassed - George Nadira off the bench was the best for Balmain and if Farrah goes down he will be a good replacement

Overall a fantastic day - they should do it more often and would have been better if it was better promoted and more fans out their
