I noticed that, I was screaming at him to shut up. But he didn't.
Sterling's biases towards Parramatta and to an extent Newcastle, are what I'd called "reserved".
Chief's are obvious, but he gives the opposition a fair wrap in the process, and while he makes Newcastle his favourites every week, he doesn't crap on about them for the whole game.
Paul Vautin's passion for Manly is just funny - everyone knows they are struggling, and hence it is humourous to listen to Vautin giving his team a wrap.
But Phil Gould's ramblings in the commentary box are neither funny nor insightful. He offers a lot of experience, but few examples of a balanced view. Unfortunately he tends to linger on the mistakes of the referees (to the point of spoiling a broadcast), and can see no other team except the Roosters.
It makes for frustrating viewing - you know he is a successful coach, but you can't help wanting someone to mute his microphone.
He makes a lot of comments, but few of them offer much insight into the game itself.
I would suggest that Ch 9 would be better served replacing him with someone who can offer comments for both teams - a balanced view, or at least one not focused on the Roosters, and specifically Fittler.
Even outside of a Roosters game, he is still unbearably frustrating to listen to.
