I agree that round 2 was better. We had free reign of the middle of the park but were lost at their end. An improvement no doubt, but a long way from being able go challenge souths

Sorry to pull this one off the first page, however playing shit is one thing, but not "running the ball enough and not giving himself enough room" isn't that the coaches fault? shouldn't he have a structure in place that allows for Barba to receive the ball more and have more space?

Things like decoy runners, players running at angles, in holes and lets not forget, actual passing and not, one out hitups?

I think we should persevere with Barba at 6. I think the last two years has shown he's not a great fullback. He needs the gameplan around him to be good in that position. That's something we just don't have.

Flanno has spoken about all this extra staff in place. Can't we just get one more in as an offensive coach?

Common sense! Exactly no point addressing these issues about Barba running the ball in round 2! What's the off season for? Blind Freddy can now tell Benny isn't running the ball as much as he should. This is something that has obviously been done on the training paddock.

The coach was the one pointing this out by the way.

It's in the link

“And, look, Ben isn’t in the best of form ... but he isn’t the reason we got beat tonight,” Flanagan insisted post match.

“What I need is for him to get his hands on the ball more. Without going backwards too far, our previous five-eighth used to get his hands on the ball and run it a fair bit.

“The players in this club are used to that. So we need to adapt a little to Ben and he needs to adapt a little to us.

I was watching a Penrith early rounds game on Nine a Few years back, and they were particularly stilted and disorganised in attack. One of the commentators remarked that they still had some work to do on their attack.
Gus Gould then went off on one of his long winded tirades about how they have had all the off season to get it right,if you start changing things now, before you know it the competition is half over.Gus put it down to nothing but poor coaching.
Rings true for us now

Wasn't Price somehow positioned as an attacking coach? Or shephard maybe? Or did I imagine that?

If Price is the attacking coach then we are royally screwed. His Dragons team is the only one in the comp that played a less attractive brand of footy than our mob.

He was hired to come & learn from Flanno.

I can see the similarities...
