So I've got a leaky tap and need to change the washers, does anyone know the difference between flat tap washers and dome tap washers ? Does it matter which type I use ?
yes it does
firstly remove the crook washer, normally the hot water tap
measure it before you head off the the hardware shop as there are 2 sizes of flat washers and 1 size in the dome washers, alternatively you can remove the crook washer and take it to the hardware shop to ensure you get the right one
or dont be a tight arse and employ a Plumber.Might be worthwhile re-seating the tap too, scrapes the brass to a nice even finish again....new washer wont last long if the tap needs to be re-seated
Hard to explain...google easier

Just Buy a new tap problem solved...
Bit difficult if it is a shower tap in behind the wall. ;-)
or dont be a tight arse and employ a Plumber.
How do you change the washers then :crazy:
Yeah right....get a plumber in to change a tap washer :lol::lol:
As someone who works in a plumbing supply shop...call a plumber if you dont know what you are doing...nothing worse than weekend warriors asking questions then blaming me because they are geniused.
