Changing tap washers

So I've got a leaky tap and need to change the washers, does anyone know the difference between flat tap washers and dome tap washers ? Does it matter which type I use ?

yes it does

firstly remove the crook washer, normally the hot water tap

measure it before you head off the the hardware shop as there are 2 sizes of flat washers and 1 size in the dome washers, alternatively you can remove the crook washer and take it to the hardware shop to ensure you get the right one

If u r heavy handed turning taps off use flat ones because domed ones can become jammed in tap seat but domed ones r better in my opinion(speaking as a plumber) lol

Domed ones r better tho...as long as ur not heavy handed because then they get jammed in tap body and u don't get any water thru

As someone who works in a plumbing supply shop...call a plumber if you dont know what you are doing...nothing worse than weekend warriors asking questions then blaming me because they are geniused.
