It's a trial. I'm not too bothered.

A few things to come out of the game:

We have two great hookers
Fien is the next Hornby
We need Merrin at prop more than we need him at lock
Morris really is an amazing player
Soward just doesn't have the heart

Anyway, beaten by a better, more structured and much more physical side. The Rabbits could win the comp. It was a good hit-out. The injuries didn't help.

What does that mean..... Fien was pathetic tonight???

Well you imbeciles can laugh all you like... But you'll be the first to cry when we finish bottom 3. Honestly harden up and have some nuts to hold the club accountable. It's pathetic!! Speak the truth.. Stop being so hopelessly blinded. That performance epitomized everything that's wrong with the club. We are 2 weeks away from the start of the comp. so if you idiots can't take the criticism give me some positives?????? ??? Hello??

Hello.....you're a f**king idiot!!!

I've got the nuts to tell you you're a wanker.

You know Twenty10 you are quite right to be so negative and I agree we should hold the club accountable and we deserve better.

But you should make your point and then get on with it. Why are you quoting Hardbaby and calling him a idiot and telling him to shut up? Its not like he directed his post at you personally? Nor did he say everything was fine and dandy about tonight?!

When you carry on like that you look more pathetic than the performance of our team tonight...so its kinda rich of you to come out swinging at the club when your own backyard is obviously full of shit.

Yep that's pretty much the case breathingfire. It wasn't a great performance. We all get frustrated. But Twenty10's posts tonight have been total rubbish. There is nothing at all to be gained from bagging off everything that walks and talks. Your team is our team. Your supporters are our supporters. We are the Red and White. If you can't deal with the emotional rollercoaster that is professional sport, drink yourself into oblivion and keep your opinions to yourself.

This is not the only thread he was acting up on.... The guy has lost it!!! As you both said, yes we were bad last night, but you need to look for some sorta positive or just give up ...

Just 2 small points from a Souths fan.

Of course you want Souths to be the people's team and win 5/22 games a year as in the 1990's. Reality is not what it was.

The era of St George being dominant was a long one and it is now over.

Get used to it.

Your right, they are small points, from a small man!...

Really doesn't matter how many game Souths win in the season, when they make the finals, sorry IF they make the finals they will always lose their last game!!!

Pull your head in, mate. We're going OK but in no position to bag off anyone. St-Gill might be going through a rough patch but we know all about those. We had twenty years of it. Yes, we are a team that nobody thinks is a sure two points like they used to but I doubt teams will go through a period of failure like ours. Well, maybe Parra...

3 points - we do this to ourselves every year, build up our hopes and expectations and all but 2010 we are bitterly disappointed.

- We once again lack consistency. How do you lose that ability to grid teams into the ground? That was the biggest worry out of the game. That attitude has gone and with it have our fortunes.

- Price needs to show some selection balls come round 1. I don't expect us to do well this year as I thought last year, however Price needs to start selecting for the future. Drinkwater, Vidot and Stanley are struggling in areas but they will continue to improve, Fien and Cooper sadly are on a steep decline.

no point blooding juniors with Price in charge... they wont get the coaching needed to reach their potential.
imagine how good kids like king, rein, debelin, drinkwater, etc etc could become with a decent coach.

Top of the morning to you all. Long time reader, first time poster.

I thought I might just put some of my thoughts out there. I am thick skinned so brand me as you will, but I think there was a lot of positives to be seen to go with the negatives that have been covered off so far. Obviously Souths line up is a lot more settled then ours as you would expect after last year so we did do a lot of chopping and changing to test players in different positions.
Some things I noticed were, though our set plays were 'rusty' they were slowly getting better as the game wore on. As we all should remember, Boyd was not at all an instant success at fullback so we should give Beale time to find his feet and this will assist in the execution of the set plays.
The hooker rotation of King and Rein will be the best in the game if they both stay fit. Once got onto the front foot both players controlled the ruck quite well and both were keeping the markers and defensive line guessing. I am of the thought that King should start and Rein used as that impact type player with his elusiveness.
Drinkwater should be our halfback. I thought he was good in the time he had on the paddock organising plays and taking on the defensive line. Where does this leave fein? I think in the same position Luke Priddis was left when Fein came back from injury in 2010. He should take up that mentor role for the younger players and play second fiddle.
Merrin although a good player should remain in the front row IMO. Our front row was OK last night but the rotation of him, Hunt and Weyman is a very good and should not be broken up. Prior and Henderson put up very admirable performances and should be considered for a bench spot.
Vidot. What can you say? He is a big boy who can't read a defence. He can run and hit the line hard but his defence needs time to develop from a wingers mentality to a centres. Tough decision for Price in that position between him and Stanley.

I am not trying to polish a turd, but I did think there was some positives out there last night. I still think Price has it in him to be a very good coach but he has to learn to make the hard choices like Drinkwater over Fein etc. I am not prepared to write us off for the season because I still believe if he makes the hard choices and and our guys improve the basics, I think we will be competitive. Bring on season proper.

thats the point...jesus...
FIen is the next hornby... meaning Fien will cop the same abuse this season that hornby copped last season...ie playing a season too long....

Mate, as you can see , I wasn't on here last year so did not know that... I can see the point now though..

I was a very big fan of Hornby but agree he played 1 year too many.

Poor team + serious top 4 contender = 10-28.

Melbourne in Melbourne next.

Strap yourselves in dudes, I think it's going to be a long and turbulent season.
