i see Charlie Gubb has finally confirmed that this will be his last season at the Warriors as he is heading to the Cowboys.
They'll be a lot more changes to come.

Apparently a fair number of our 19 or so players off contract haven't been offered another deal. Thompson and Ata have both been offered contracts but are testing the market.

Have to remember that this is Kearney's first chance to mould the roster into the team he wants and this year has an unprecedented number of off contract players so expect a lot of moves/rumours to be made back and forth.

I'd like to keep Ata, unfortunately his development has been stalled by the Foran deal imo - given we were/are unlikely to contend (imo again) I'd have thought a season in first grade would have been great for him.

Lolohea, Gubb, Thompson all free to go if I had the call - I suspect there'll be little demand for Thompson beyond what the Warriors have offered

A shopping they will go for sure. Looking at the team who played the Roosters 10 of the 17 are either off contract or confirmed leaving.

CNK, Ayshford, Thompson, Gavet, Lillyman, Sao, Roache all off contract.

Foran, Matulino, Hoffman confirmed leaving

Lolohea/Gubb/Allwood almost certain to leave

Vete, T Sipley, P Sipley, Ata, Clark, Ogden, Lino all off contract.

Long story short, we have 14 players under contract next season and that includes Lolohea/Tevaga/Vatuvei who are probably not highly desired at the moment by the club and Pauga/Papalii who are still very raw. The NRL squad is likely to be a top 30 next year soooo a few re-signings/new signings will have to happen.

Current 2018 Roster

1. RTS
2. Pauga
3. Fusitua
4. Kata
5. Vatuvei
6. Lolohea
7. Johnson
8. Lisone
9. Luke
10. Afoa
11. Maumalo
12. Papalii
13. Mannering

14. Tevaga
15. ???
16. ???
17. ???

Not pretty if 2018 were starting tomorrow. Get out that chequebook.

There is a serious cleanout going on. Players like Charlie are a good backup option. Bit of experience but not too expensive. May not be front line but with the cap, you can't get front line over your whole squad.

We have "holes" in our front line across the field. Wingers, centre, but props there is an absolute chasm.

Is there a big signing in the wind? A lot of space seems to be freed up? James Graham?

you'd assume a few of those off contract players are unlikely to go anywhere, CNK and Gavet would be be odds on to be retained as would Ayshford, Lilyman and Ata. Don't see manu going either unless he retires, he's worth twice as much at the warriors as he would be elsewhere unless he goes to europe.

Yes, I would expect a large portion of our squad to be made up of re-signings rather than bringing new people in. Lolohea will leave IMO so that will leave us with 13 (we'll be stuck with Manu/Tevaga no doubt.)

Gavet, Sipley x 2, Roache, CNK should be priorities. Chris Satae has impressed in ISP so it wouldn't surprise me to see him bumped up.

Iro said we had an option on Vete, but he's dropped down the pecking order so question mark and no rush from our POV.

Thompson/Ata have been offered contracts so the ball is in their court.

Lillyman will depend on how successful we are finding a replacement first. I think Lillyman is plan B as far as senior props go. Ayshford might be in a similar position.

Sao keeps making the team but isn't really doing much to get excited about. Question mark.

Lino (depending on what other halves do), Ogden, Lolohea, Gubb, Allwood probably all gone.

At the moment I'm seeing about 20 players likely from the current squad plus Harris and the rest are question marks depending on various circumstances.

Don't forget Tohu Harris

Heres my take.

Keep: Ayshford, Gavet, Hingano, Lillyman, Lino, CNK, Ogden, Sipleys

Release: Allwood, Clark, Roache, Sao, Thompson, Vete, Lolohea

Gone: Gubb, Foran, Matulino, Hoffman

I like Roache, think he has some potential as a future #9. We haven't really seen much of what Allwood can offer, 6 games in 3 years isn't much of a return

And most of the time when Allwood got on, he wasn't half bad either.
Which is pretty funny given Maumalo has enjoyed an extended run.

Vete is the head scratcher. Hes big enough to be good at prop but he seems to be our version of Dane Carlaw. He needs the fire in him that Gavet has. Hopefully we can make something of him.
