Seriously, the commentary back on channel 10 in 1991 is by far superior to the inane dribble we've had to put up with on channel 9 for the last 6 or so years.

How good are those old leather steedens!!!!!!!!!!

This.

Hughes would call the game and not get interrupted every minute by his co-commentator. Mind you back then Pearce was a bit new just into retirement, but still though.

Graham Hughes is probably the best commentator not calling any games. I wouldnt mind seeing back to calling games. Better than some of the ones calling the games now. Or at least call some in New Zealand. Please FOX send some commentators over instead of having to listen their commentary.

One thing about this game in 1991 was great to see a packed North Sydney oval on a Sunday afternoon.

How good is Chooseday Night Football? Hate to be the poor bastard that sits through hours and hours of footage to put that show together.

How good was some of the passing and hole hitting??

See this is what annoys the shit out of me, todays game the players are by far more stronger, fitter and athletic but a lot these days lack the footy brain the players of that era possesed.

can't believe how good Bear Park looked - remember it used to cop plenty of criticism as either too hard around the cricket pitch area ( Concrete Park ) or a mud heap

Bear Park used to be like cement in the 80s, but the ground got a huge face lift in the late 80s which included the grandstands and the pitch itself. After that, the ground was lush. Hence it looked wonderful in that 91 game verse Wests.

How times have changed with the forwards.

Did you also notice how many of those forwards in that game were not only able to get an offload away but throw a decent pass, fill in at second receiver.

I mean back then it wouldn't have surprised a lot of people if say a Darren Britt or Martin Bella threw a cut out pass out wide once in a while, and if it was good the reaction would be "Yeah good pass there".

Whereas today, if say Ben Hannant or Matthew Scott did the same thing "Oh my god how about that pass from a front rower, whats he doing there throwing that pass"

Peter Wilkins might have something to say about that.

Not Bill Harrigan's best game here.

That Phil Blake sin binning was rubbish, Hancock was hanging onto him.

Besides David Fordham (RIP), I've got almost no idea who the other commentators are here.

Ian Maurice?
