How's his reads going lately? That was always his main problem, he just didnt understand the game. Is a better team effort helping?

It wasn't just his reads. He used to fall off tackles something savage. Now when he hits, they stay hit.

How good is Chris Lawrence's defense? Incredible to think that early in his career he looked to be a defensive liability. Right now he must be close to the best defensive centre in the game. He reads the play well, rarely misses a tackle he should make and perhaps best of all, he hits bloody hard at times. He's a fantastic player.

I have known Chris for a long time, he wasn't your normal kid. He always wanted to do extra training and work on different things when everyone else wanted to go home. We need to somehow develop more like him and then sign them up for 10 years.
I dont think Daniella was one of those kids staying back doing extra training !

He reminds me a lot of Wayne Pearce, just his wrk ethics and professionalism towards improving his game and by all accounts he is a perfect role model off the field as well. A future club captain i think.

B.bear - not sure about speed and Lawrence anymore.

Since Sheens has had him bulk up for his move to the backrow he seems to have lost a bit of speed.

He was cut down by Whatmo (sic) on Monday after having a 5 meter start

Pretty sure he's got a dodgy hammy or leg injury, he had a mountain of strapping on his leg last Mon, would effect his pace no doubt, its why hes out today too

Ive become a huge Lawrence fan this year, mainly due to the massive improvement in his defence. I had to laugh in the SOO threads were everyone was pumping up the tyres of Morris, Jennings, Cooper etc for next year but forgot about this guy who is a more complete center then any of them.

Lawrence is an outstanding Centre who keeps getting better. So, fingers crossed he stays as a Centre. Remember Sheens saying "his long term position is 5/8". Let's hope that the Benji 7 / Lawrence 6 idea has been put to bed (and shot, buried and covered with cement).

Chris was a real "heavy bump and hope they go down and then wrap them up on the ground" sort of tackler early on (but no one noticed in his debut games because he was scoring 3 90 metre tries per game!). But, he has really improved. It feels like his attack has been stymied a little while his defence improved but I think that'll change once he gets his mojo back.

I'd rather see the 6-7 combination of tim and benji stay together and putting chris at fulback. With the way that he is tackling now, it could be his new position for the future?? Attacking wise, he'd be a real handful.

Bollocks no one noticed. Many were perfectly aware that he was worse than the two H's defensively.
