Chris Rogers make to Test debut

January 15, 2008 - 2:26PM

Chris Rogers will make his Test debut on his home ground on Wednesday after Matthew Hayden was ruled out with injury for the third Test against India at the WACA Ground.
Fast bowler Shaun Tait will also come into the side, as Australia opted for an all-pace attack for the first time since 1992.
Captain Ricky Ponting confirmed Hayden had not sufficiently overcome soreness in his right hamstring and that he was too great a risk to take into the match, where Australia chase a record 17th successive win.
Spinner Brad Hogg was eligible to play after India dropped their abusive language complaint against him on Monday night, but he will be 12th man.

bad news about Haydos

good news about Tait

the decision to include Rogers is one of the poorest decisions our selectors ever made

no way should he be above D Hussey, Katich or Haddin in the pecking order.

Hayden will be hoping he doesn't do to well.....

either way Rogers is only covering for Hayden, it'll be good experience for him. Once Hayden retires, Rogers will have test experience and will get picked if in form.

the thing is he will probably still make a few runs considering the Indians weakened attack now that Zaheer has gone home

Well Rogers was neck and neck with Jaques before he got crook. And he is a local, hope he goes well.

Should of gone with Watson!

He has much better hair and Rogers does not have a perky ass

IMO that is a bad decision.

He'll get less than 35 imo.

I agree, I thought that maybe Katich would have been useful considering the amount of runs he has this summer and he has played test cricket before, Jacques is still very inexperienced at this level and now with a test debutaunt we may be very shaky at the top of the order.

Rogers has earnt his spot, with some consistant runs over 2 seasons, for one test at home. Good luck to him.

I would have gone D Huss at 5, M Huss at 1, but he would have made 300 and really put the spanner in the works.
