at the risk of getting turned over and rooted, whats wrong with covell ?

or geo carmont ?

Georgie Carmont was definately in the mix, but he played for Samoa in the world cup qualifying, while they haven't qualified yet, they no doubt will.
This makes him uneligible for the World Cup.
Same as Lauititi, Moimoi, Fa'fili etc. But he's definately not sh*t

Covell there is a chance he might get picked either for this anzac test or the end of the year.
Just hope it doesnt happen.

Sweet, Junior Moors looks pretty good and I've heard some good wraps. We need to build some future props alongside Rapira, Tuimavave, Packer etc.
No Doubt he'll at least play NZ a team at the end of the year.

Mate he'll never play for the kiwis again.
He signing with a sydney club for next year.

They wont fly Tony back to play a position like hooker - hull are strugling they wont release him.

Other Hooker options:
Seu seu
John Te Reo
Halatau
Faiumu
Roberts

Pretty sure swain has retired from international footy.

I honestly think that all the australian players(includes fien) in the warriors - log into this forum all the time-going. They must not have any friend in NZ and just log in to talk themselves up.
Fien can barely make the Warriors hooker spot - kiwis no chance.

Ask any Knights supporter and they'll tell you different mate. He's lucky still have a contract with an NRL club

He maybe their equivalent to J-Ro, they love to have on him. But I've seen him score a few tries and look good on offense like last year when Johns was out.
The fact is he is a regular FG, if he was sh*t being an outside back - he could easily be replaced.
No doubt he will look to head to the superleague soon.

But what Kiwi hookers are there in the NRL that actually get a regular starting hooker spot?

And that right there is a good point. .. theres probably a number that could be picked and do a job for the kiwis, but not many of them will see alot of game time in the starting side this year.

Chase and Ngwani - what they'll probably play 5 FG games between them this year if they are lucky

Seu Seu - his game time in FG will dry up in the next week or so and may only get back in the team for the 3 games Buderus will be away on origin/test duty

Roberts - not a hooker, could come off the bench and fill that role i suppose.

HoHaia - The warriors aint playing him there and neither will the kiwis.

Faiumu - seems to have fallen out of form and out of favour with the cowboys

Anderson - no longer a hooker and injured

Te Reo - Who ? Jesus we are clutching at staws if your counting him

Halatau - how many games will he actually play at hooker this year? And is he quick enough and is his service good enough?

atm none-bt faiumu still plays hooker bt off the bench, But whether they start or not, or even if they dont play there regularly its not a biggie - many of them have played there at test level:
Anderson(injured atm)
Halatau
Hohaia
Faiumu

All these other three will be favourites for the position for the anzac test, with possibly another scoring a bench position.

Chase has a broken finger.

The man is a walking turnstyle on defense, and frankly his offense isnt good enough to make up for it.

Being a regular first grader certainly doesnt mean that someone is of a high standard, and by international level, yes he is sh*t. The only thing that has kept him in that team is a complete lack of options at the knights, if you look through their reserve sides they are dry of talent in the backs.

With abit more $$$ next year with joey retiring an effective centre will be purchased and Carmont will go bye bye. Perhaps he can hook up with canberra, their talent pool is shallow enough to keep him in business in the backs for a while.

i dont disagree, all im saying is that our depth at hooker isnt as fantastic as we'd like to believe. But atleast we arent completly optionless if disaster strikes.

Having said that I'd rather see a chase or ngwani in the side ahead of the likes of anderson playing hooker

None, no and no. His distribution is shocking, our momentum suffers severely when he plays at Hooker.

How can you possible leave out Frank Pritchard on form...

Just a small snippet I found in the smh today that might indicate Eastwood will get a run for the kiwis

http://www.leaguehq.com.au/news/news/tupou-on-the-nose-at-broncos/2007/04/11/1175971170171.html

"Injury robbed the talented Eastwood of a Test debut in last year's Tri Nations but his early season form is good enough for McClennan to hand him a belated debut.

McClennan gave a strong hint that Eastwood would be named in the 17-man Kiwi squad which will assemble in Brisbane on Monday.

"Greg has started and finished the last two games for Brisbane without a break," said McClennan.

"That's what we're asking for.

"What we're saying to the Kiwi boys is get yourself in the starting lineup and play some minutes and then you're a bloody good chance.""
