Chuckers vs. Australia

Funny how we seem to win most Twenty20 games at home when we rest top line players.

I can't remember us losing a T20 in Australia. I don't think anyone has really come close to winning either.

Our top liners just don't play enough of the format. They would have been better off playing blokes from the domestic level who have experience at 20/20.

Punter, Pup, Mike Hussey etc are not suited to 20/20 and have prob only played a handful of games in the last couple of years.
I think that’s a cop out. Especially when you compare Australia to Sri Lanka. SL has less 20/20 experience and don't have anywhere near the domestic strength of AUS. Outside of Jayauriya none of the Sri Lankan players are the type of players you think would be suited to batting in the 20/20 format. It’s a side full of strokemakers and only Sangakarra and Jayawardene are of any quality. The only thing they have going for them is their bowling attack. Australia should have dismantled them.

I agree. Ponting, imo, is the best batsman in the world, and should easily be able to adapt to the T20 format. Same with Hussey and Clarke. I've see all three of those blokes score at well quicker than a run a ball, and so there is no excuse why they shouldn't all be good T20 players.

The team doesn't need to be full of sloggers to win. We have the batsmen capable of scoring at 9+ an over. They just don't have the confidence to do it.

T20 is such a short version of the game that they should have made the pools larger and played more games in the preliminary rounds. Makes no real sense to spend a sh*tload of money sending a squad over for just a couple of games.

Still, hats off to the Netherlands (for beating England) and to Ireland (for progressing to the next stage of the tournament).
