OK, I haven't done this in a few weeks. And contrary to what it may seem, I am not just posting this thread when we win a game. Been back and forth to Sydney and Toowoomba the past week...
1. Kurt Gidley: Has to be in Origin consideration doesn't he? His goalkicking seems to be improving, which is good to see. Hoping he can bring his average up to a 75+% record... as long as it's better than Cameron Smith's 63%:sarcasm:
2. James McManus: His youth showed in a couple of simple mistakes, needs to focus on basic discipline. Doesn't need to get too carried away trying to return the ball like Slater or Bowen.
3. George Carmont: Actually made one good run through the middle carrying 3 defenders toward the line (couldn't believe my eyes)... then dropped the ball trying to play it.
4. Todd Polglase: Although named at centre played a fair bit of wing. A very good fill-in, and he made some impressive tackles.
5. Brad Tighe: I won't be too hard on the bloke. After making 2 errors and giving away a stupid penalty in the first 10 minutes, it showed alot of guts to work his confidence back up and have a go.
6. Daniel Abraham: He didn't seem to get as involved as he has in previous weeks. But still a very solid performance.
7. Jarrod Mullen: His kicking game (particularly his cross-field kicks to the wingers) really improved this week. If McManus had been able to hold on to one of them we would have had another try.
8. Josh Perry: Didn't carry the ball too much, but a couple of his runs were pretty classy. At least twice he carried 3 blokes for 10m. Still needs to learn how to hit the line with speed.
9. Danny Buderus: Does he need any more accolades? When he was off the field we looked lost...:?
10. Cory Paterson: Starting him at prop was a nice little couterpunch by Smith. But I still think he suits the second-row.
11. Steve Simpson: We are going to miss his leadership next week (maybe he will be able to back-up). Played alot of minutes so didn't have the impact he usually does, but a soild all-round performance.
12. Clint Newton: Was a bit disappointed in him this week. Didn't seem to get to involved (or maybe that's just me), but after playing prop last week I expected more go-forward.
13. Dan Tolar: Seems to be making the lock position his own. Tackles the house down and really adds that extra dimesion to the backrow.
14. Adam Woolnough: Looked good starting from the bench (144 meters), played plenty of minutes it seemed. Some solid hitups and really dug deep in that second half when the heat started to take effect.
15/16. Kirk Reynoldson/Riley Brown: I combined them because niether really did anything off the bench. The quality of Riley's passing at dummy-half is not up to scratch IMO, and Reyno was his usual 2-error, 3 missed tackle self.
17. Matt White: Really impressive off the bench (although not to the the extent Wooly was). Knows how to hit the line with speed (unlike a certain sponge I know...).
