Classic Catches

cricket show just had their 10 classic catches so what are some of yours?

my internet has been slowed down so i can't search youtube and it's always hard to judge what are the best as there would be about 250 catches worth of the mantle "classic" but the two catches that stand out for me that are among the best i've ever seen are both mark waugh

one was off the bowling of warne against pakistan down in hobart i think ... diving to the right and took the ball one handed when it was behind him

the other was on the tour of india in 2001 ... not sure which test or who was the bowler, i think it was funky miller ... but waugh was fielding at midwicket and the ball was absolutely creamed waugh took the catch diving full length to the right and tony greig absolutely blows his pants ... that is definately on youtube so search it

gotta throw tubby taylor against the windies up there kicking the ball up in the air ... i remember going to cricket the next day and everyone from both teams was falling down throwing the ball up in the air trying to kick it up ... great stuff

and if anyone remembers the 99/00 seasons where pakistan and india toured ... rahul dravid took a great catch at square leg diving full length to his right and caught it one handed ... dead set had the leather knocked off it so i bet that hurt

and one that i always remember but isn't what you would call classic was boeta dippenaar in the boxing day test, not the last time south africa toured but the one before, fielding at bat pad the ball was crushed straight into his chest and held on

more than two but the memory floodgates are open now

Steve Waughs catch behind the sightscreen was one i'll never forget, Ponting has taken some screamers over the years.

Don't know if it was in the top 10 thing but Paul Collinwood's at backward point to dismiss Hayden in 2005 was the best I've seen

Nathan Astle v South Africa around 99 at Napier

Damp outfield, Klusener or Pollock has smashed the ball down the ground, Astle covers about 20m i think and takes a full length diving catch in front of the sightscreen and slides for a mile afterwards

It was Pollock. That will always remain the best catch I have ever seen I think, not sure how it could be beaten. It literally had everything- one-hand, wrong hand (his left), a full sprint, a genuinely full-length dive, and about 1cm off the ground.

The comp was bias surely 9 of the 10 classic catches weren't from Aus, That Collingwood take was right up there.

Slightly off topic: KFC classic catches

I may be a little bit slow but could someone please explain something for me, when this competition comes up the commentator always says something along the lines of "The first correct answer received"...

Does that mean if you're the first person to vote for C and it is nominated as the classic catch you win? All the other votes are used just to work out which catch was the best? Sounds a bit silly to me.

On topic: The guy in the crowd who caught it while talking on his mobile.

It wasn't bias, it was just catches taken from Channel 9s own coverages which is why they all featured Australian games.
