Classic finals matches - not including grand finals

1998 Semi-Final Dogs vs Eels. That was the most heartbreaking finals moment for me. The 2009 Eels vs Dogs game was amazing but also as an Eels fan the Parra vs Dragons game of 2009 1v8 was great...the Dragons spanked us to nil the weekend before but we came out and rocked them first week of the finals....and that Hayne try at the end, WOW!

Other great semi's from memory are 1994 Dogs vs Raiders 19-18 and also a high scoring game between Manly and Canberra in the early nineties, Gary Coyne scored 4 tries, great match.

For the LOL's

Week 1 2004 - Dragons vs Panthers. Dragons lose by 1, nathan brown is at the racetrack the very next day thinking it will all be sweet. nek minnit 3rd place Broncos lose to the Storm and the 2nd place Bulldogs lose to NQLD. Dragons are gone...

Yeah I think the first (and maybe only??) team in the McIntyre system to go out having finished 5th. I think we'd dead set come back from 24-0 down or something ridiculous and lost 31-30, and the week before was some ridiculous comeback where we'd come back from a gazillion down and won by a point.

It was pretty funny in the Sunday paper reading Brownys quotes like, yeah, we'll be sweet for next week etc and then we were knocked out on Saturday night!

Warriors are at their best when they play like that.

The Wests v Easts extra time game when Woods flattened JWH was a belter too.

Thought that was Simon Dwyer. Poor kid I think he was a rep player of the future if he found a future away from Sheens

Warrior '10 got knocked out from 5th after the Tigers and Panthers were beaten on the Saturday.

It was against Manly IIRC and Blacklock was sensational - shame we could not do it twice in a row

Haha I just watched this game the other night. I'm still not sure how Carige gets blamed for the result seeing as he had absolutely no part to play in the Dogs 3 late tries.

Argument for another day i suppose.
He kicked the ball away on the first tackle when the score was 18 all.

Anyone want to go back as far as the Newtown v Manly brawl in 1981?

Eels v Dragons in 84 when Rogers was playing for Saints, and one of his classic games. Grothe try in the last minute got us home as I recall. Who remembers that?

Yeah remember it well. Was there as a 13 yo Rooster with a Parra supporting mate. Was mayhem on the old hill at the end when the Guru crashed over in Sludge's tackle.

OK - time for one of those "Post your best memory" threads. The topic - what are the most memorable qualifying, semi or preliminary finals games you can recall?

From memory, the best I can recall - for different reasons - were (in no particular order)

The "Rip Thirdman's Head Off" Semi - Brisbane v Melbourne - Lang Park 2008.

The "Helmrich" Semi - Parramatta v Canterbury - SFS 1998

The "Dummy Spit" Semi - Newcastle v Easts - SFS 2000

"Heather's Last Stand" - Brisbane vs St George Illawarra - Lang Park, 2011

The "Meli Mauling" - New Zealand v Canterbury - SFS 2003

The "Cowboys Cometh" Semi - North Queensland v Brisbane - Dairy Farmers 2005

The "Loltzen" Semi - New Zealand v Wests, ANZ, 2011

The "Hayne Train" semi - St George Illawarra vs Parramatta - Kogarah 2009

The "Bradbury" Semi - Wests vs St George Illawarra - SFS 2005

The "Flattened Patton" Semi - Parramatta v Canterbury - ANZ 2009

The "Sleeping Soreboard" Semi - Manly v Easts 2013

Or others?

Pretty certain Cowboys and Broncos did not play each other in a semi in 2005.

Tigers put 50 on the Cowboys in week 1 and 34 on the Broncos in week 2, eliminating them.

It was 2004. Cowboys first ever win against older brother 10 - 0.

Cowboys almost beat the roosters the following week aswell.
