Clippers about to be very relevant (Deal agreed)

Paul has a dodgy knee. Also he could be gone in two years.

Eric Gordon has the potential to be a 28-30 ppg scorer in his prime. 5 years from now I think we find out this trade was more even than most people think.

Also, Gordon apparently learnt he was traded while on a bus filled with Clippers season ticket holders during a promotional event. Damn.

Stern doesn't look so stupid now.

Got 2 really good pieces to build around, a probable top 10 pick & an expiring contract NO can flick for picks at the trade deadline.

Much better deal for the future of the franchise. Plus its cheaper. Its not 30+ year olds on big salaries and declining.

Hornets came out a bit better from the deal.
Paul is a top 10 player tho and I'm looking forward to watching him feed Griffin

Hornets (and Stern) win because Paul was gone eitherway, this is much better than a)the lakers deal and b)getting nothing.

Gordon is a potential franchise player. Draft well with the lottery pick in what should be a good draft, and suddenly you have a 1-2 combo better than most teams at this point.

No he didn't.

U want a top 5-10 player from my small market team. You better freaking pay for it to give me a chance to be relevant soon.

That's what they did.

And I laugh on twitter all the Laker fans bitching and moaning. f**k off...its a way better deal than the Lakers...gives them a chance to be relevant NOW and in the FUTURE. They seem to forget how they killed Memphis and robbed them blind.

I can't speak for them, but I'm mainly pissed of because of the impact that the vetoed deal had on Odom. What happened in regards to him is a farce and beyond reason. And of all the teams to ship him to for nothing, they do it to the team that swept them in the playoffs. It's infuriating.

It's funny that the Lakers would have been in a better basketball position if they hadn't chased Cp3 in the first place

They were upset cause they thought the Lakers deal was the best.

Odom, Martin & Scola & Knicks 1st rounder = More salary & aging players & a likely late 1st round pick

Gordon, Aminu, Kaman & Minny 1st rounder = salary cap space, Minny's 1st round likely to be at the very least mid 1st, then next year you'll have around $40m in cap space according to Mannix. You have a potential all-star in Gordon.

If I'm an owner...I want a young core, a potenital all-star, cap space I can then be flexible with & a high pick....over getting pieces which put me at a higher salary, make me older, makes me hang on to players longer, sure makes me more relevant now...but will hinder me in the future as if I'm a wealthy owner...I can't spend big in FA.

I wouldn't say they gave up too much. I think this improves the Clippers - but not to a contender level. If they win 45 that's already a huge improvement on last season - so while I don't think they gave up too much I still think they're a couple of big pieces away from being serious contenders.

Memphis ended up doing damn well out of that deal.

They wouldn't be a playoff team without Marc Gasol either. He's turned into a very good player. And good 7'1 270 pound players are rare these days.

100% agree. But it wasn't just him that made the difference. He hadn't done much at all the other years he was with the Griz until Randolph came was my point.

Rockets have been severely harmed by GM david stern's decision to block the lakers trade
phil jackson was fined last year for speaking out about the obvious conflict of interest

According to Fox Sports the deal for Paul to go to the Clippers is about to happen.

Paul will apparantly opt in for the 2012-2013 season which is why Clippers going to pay:

Minny's unprotected 1st round pick, Aminu, Bledsoe & Kaman's expiring contract.

That is a better deal than the Lakers for a couple of reasons. Aminu & Bledsoe are two really good young pieces to build around...even as role players...and that T-Wolves 1st round pick could turn into a top 5 pick to nab someone like a Harrison Barnes or someone like that next year.

With the Lakers deal they were saddled with old players, with a lot of salary tied up. Now they have good youth, cheap players to give them cap space & a likely high first round pick.

For the Clippers...a great deal. They get Paul for Bledsoe. THey signed Caron Butler for SF and they will likely match offer sheet for DeAndre Jordan getting rid of Kaman.

Clippers starting 5:

PG - Chris Paul
SG - Eric Gordon
SF - Caron Butler
PF - Blake Griffin
C - DeAndre Jordan

That is better than the Lakers right now imo. And I think that if they all stay healthy....that is a contending team.
I disagree the Lakers have size and size wins in the NBA
it's still the clippers guy  cant trust em as long as these two are involved
they are worst franchise in pro sports
