1999 - Tawera Nikau i think should of won it

2000 - Luke Phillips should of been a case of a player winning from a losing team.

2001 - Ben Kennedy Newcastle's forwards won them that game.

2002 - Brad Fittler This was close but him coming back from the flying headbutt kicking the 40-20 turned the match.

1. If the Roosters win, hmmm Carney I'd have to say. If the Dragons win, I dunno, maybe Gasnier or Weyman.

2. Without a doubt especially if it's a close game. The selectors admitted last year they were forced to pick the Clive Churchhill winner with 15 to 20 minutes to go in the match because Channel 9 demand it so they can organise the ceremony and trophy. Had Parramatta came from behind last year with a late try Billy Slater would still have won the Clive Churchhill medal because it was decided in the 60th minute he'd get it. If it's 16 all or even 16-14 all with 15 minutes to go in this year's decider there's a 50% chance the medal will go to a member of the losing side.

3 and 4 - I can't really recall individual performances from all the previous GFs so I'll pass on those.

2004 - SBW had much more impact on the successful result than Big Willie. I just think they'd did not want to give it to a bench debutante season player. I remember commentators saying that SBW would get more opportunities in his career to win it. Hah!

Thinking it will be a forward battle - I'd reckon Smith or Costigan for Dragons, Myles or Anasta for Chooks

I they demand an answer well before fulltime like they apparently did last year - definitely

I reckon the first two. Sterlo was superb in 86 - best kicking game I can recall from the pre 40/20 era, and Lyons ran rampant in 87

Most of them have probably been close calls. Amending the list, I have highlighted the choices that they nailed, added the name in red of the bloke who should have gotten it, and ignored the ones that were close calls but probably got right
