Sponsors should get a logo on the Shorts, a spot under the chest area and a spot on the upper back that's it. Better still, follow the NBA and no sponsors make the gear just the surrounding area of the stadium which the camera crew have to hit a certain number of times a game.

Yeh.....its always those that dont care argue the point about a particular issue.
Those that DO care just let those that dont care speak for 'em.

Nice try BH...but you aint fooling no one.

I care about someone trying to cast aspersions on my club, as every other supporter does on here. You suggesting that Manly stole Melbournes design fits into that category.

As for Manly and Melbourne having the same jersey, Meh

I don't think he's suggesting it at all... the bottom line is, someone at the club signed away the design creation to Reebok and the bloke at Reebok got lazy and gave them an almost identical design to the only other club in the league with the same jersey manufacturer. That is something I certainly know fans at clubs such as the Dragons would be upset about... everyone wants their club to have it's own unique look and defining factor... a jersey akin to another club does not facilitate that.

Can I just make a point here and now - some Manly fans, in particular yourself for instance, seem to have developed a real chip on the shoulder about perceived attacks on the Manly club. I don't know about some of the others but generally I'm trying to talk footy and help stamp out some of the bullsh*t angles that happen in our game, and I'm usually quite serious in that respect. It really is starting to get up my nose when every reasonable point, such as this jersey issue - is perceived as a "you hate Manly and you want to lay into them" angle. It's not the case at all. I'm concerned that a company like Reebok can be handed the design rights so freely to something as sacred as a jersey (and yes admittedly away kits are far less sacred) and the club just accept it without question.

"Pretty pathetic using another clubs design."

Is that a reasonable point Timmah ? If someone mentioned the Dogs in that way i am sure you would be in there wouldn't you. Read back through this topic, and you will see plenty of 'reasonable points' from me, and not one bagging another club

Seeing as you used me as an example, the only other Manly related topic i have been in is the Menzies one, where all i have done is put a case forward for him, and debated other points made.

In what way does that indicate me having a chip on my shoulder ?

The fact you're still firing back at me indicates that it's quite clear that you have a chip on your shoulder about anybody saying anything negative about your club or the decisions it makes. Are you ever critical of your own club?

The Titans use Reebok as well, not being a smartarse, just stating that.

For me, Manly's unique look is defined by the main, home jersey. If it was the case with that and a massive change from the norm, then I would be annoyed. Seeing it is only the backup strip, which ideally for me would be the reverse of the home strip for every club, it doesn't bother me at all.

We are having a discussion, nothing heated.

I have been banned from the Manly forums many times for being critical of management, coaching and selection issues. I just state what i beleive, if i see something i beleive is unjustified, on any issue, not just Manly related, i will reply.

Their jersey (away for a start) won't be up for renewal until at least next year (home jersey 2010).

You still haven't answered, have you ever questioned or been upset with a decision your club has made?

Maybe some of the remarks from people here have been "attacks on your club" but they're sh*t stirring at best.

True, but it is the off season, and people get bored easily, so why not have a bit of fun

I was disgusted at the way the Monaghan saga was handled 2-3 years ago. Am disappointed they are playing home games at Gosford. The continued selection of Dunley, The signing of an injury prone forward who was past it, Ben Kennedy

For what it is worth....Brisbane, Gold Coast, Nth Qld, Canberra (Monaro), Newcastle & Illawarra all had rep teams long before joining the Sydney premiership.
Yep, fair enough, except this one. Newcastle had a team in the inaugural Sydney premiership season and the following one (1908 & 1909) before leaving to form the Newcastle Rugby League competition. I think you'll find any Newcastle Rep team would have come about after this occasion.

Hence the wearing of the blood & bandages strip as their 100yrs jersey - it was that initial Newcastle team's jersey design ... or close to it anyway. I doubt there was any sponsors and logos on their jerseys 100 years ago! Hey, I can recall quite easily in the late 80's and early 90's where the jerseys were a LOT less cluttered than they are today!

Thanks. I thought it was obvious that I was referring to entry of the Knights, rather than the original Newcastle club.

Interestingly, Newcastle played representative matches against NZ and NZ Maori in both 1908 and 1909. While the Newcastle team were the same players (& jersey) as the club team, these games are recognised as matches by the Newcastle representative team.

Every club should revert to their original jersey for the 100 year's if it's been changed. I like all the original jersey's of all clubs much better than the new futuristic crap. It's not like they can't use the new materials with the old designs.

Ah, my apologies! It's pretty common knowledge about Newcastle's history in the Sydney/NSW/National comp, so I thought it was possibly just a typo that you included Newcastle in your list.
