Board under fire in Sharks election

RUGBY league's battle of the ballot has shifted from Parramatta to Cronulla, with the long-serving board under fire from three contenders at next month's Sharkies Leagues Club election.
After the Eels incumbents were routed on the back of a $9.12 million loss last financial year, Cronulla's suits would be feeling nervous.

Two current sponsors - Damien Irvine and Ricky Surace - are challenging for spots on the nine-man board. Surace represents back-of-jersey sponsor B2B Commercial and is not satisfied with the state of affairs, despite the application for a $100 million development of Sharkies finally being presented to Sutherland council last month.

The other contender is Paul Walker, a former lower-grade coach who now works for the ARL.

At least one is guaranteed to win a place, with Frank Doran retiring for health reasons.

Voting runs from May 22 to 27, with the AGM to be held the following night.

this pdf will give you 2007 info on the directors.
Pay particular attention to the meetings & how many attended.
Pay particular attention to the professions.

I think we can see here that this forum will probably agree on change. For that to happen we need to get all 3 new guys onto the board. Therefore, who do we cull?

I will put this name up first gillard. Thats a shocking name btw.

Ok for those of you in the know!!! who should we be voting for? Please put some names up??

Well the forum can bag me & point out my errors, but the sensible way to vote IMO is to get the 3 new guys onto the board.

So to keep Millers happy
vote
1 irvine
2 walker
3 surace
4 Barry will be running unpposed as chairman, so I think that means he doesnt even need to get 1 vote.

Now out of the rest of the sitting directors to not vote for , I suggest

1. Gillard.

There needs to be a high profile property developer and a former state govt ALP minister on the board.

Well that might be a bit crazy. I dont think they would have long left to run. FFS NSW cant be that stupid can they?

Don't underestimate the stupidity of voters, I'll hold queensland up as a prime example,

We'll create 100,000 jobs

Yeah right

Interestingly though a lot of developments get approved because companies hire former labor ministers as their "advice" men.

I'm sure that they only offer advice too.

I can at least agree with Reefy and Millers that the adding of new members to the board should help tip the balance away from yes-men syndrome.
