Living in the east bay I know this story all too well. The guy did what every coach should do. what makes him so special? The kids on his team weren't doomed to fail. His locking the gym for a week didn't work miracles. The "coach" is a fraud that he exploited these kids for his own gain. He is a businessman, he loves the spotlight, and now this jerk is a millionaire. If you don't believe me than go to the contra costa times newspaper's web site and read the article from last week. Players on that team don't even like him. The principal, teachers, and other coaches didn't like him. Everyone who knows him says this was a cry for attention. His players said the lockout was the ONLY time he was concerned with their academics. They dismiss this movie as fiction and feel like he takes credit where it is not due. he punched his son in the face twice during games! Ken Carter says he doesn't care what these people think because "everyone loves coach carter and now they will know the story." Many events in the movie are far from truth, say his ex-players. Didn't see the movie but i recommend staying miles from this true hollywood tall tale. This guy is just an average businessman....er coach
