Robinson for mine. Has a lot less to work with than Maguire does.

Based on what?
Robinson has Jennings, SBW, RTS, Topou, Pearce, (who might not be a SOO halfback but he's a pretty f**king good club halfback), Friend, Maria Hargraves, Cordner

It's not as if they dont have talent.

Maguire over Robinson based on the state of their respective clubs when they took over.

So taking a team from 9th to 1st was harder than taking a team from 12th to 2nd :p

Personally I reckon Robinson's greatest achievement is having a team that lets in 0 points in five games whilst losing every penalty count in the process. I reckon that's got to be a first

Oh and I'd vote for Madge closely followed by Bennett who has dragged Newcastle to 5th without Kurt Gidley by using a bunch of pensioners. Anyone that can be that high with Craig Gower at halfback should get a flipping OBE.

5th means nothing at this point, there's 1 win separating 5th and 11th

Robinson atm for mine.

If Penrith make the top 8(looking doubtfull at this stage) then it should definately be Cleary, our injury list is huge and no one rated us anyway.

There's no question they have talent but personally I think Souths have a much stronger team.

Toovey?

Or not Toovey...

This.

I'm no Manly fan, but Toovey has done an amazing job over the past couple of seasons with them. Everyone thought Manly were propper f'd when Dessie left, but they have done pretty well, even with the disruption that his disparture caused.

 had to laugh. I think toovey's been shit. He's not improved the roster or the team at all imo. They are still as good as they were with Dessie years ago but they havent improved and in this league, if your standing still, your moving backwards.

Manly are definitely still a cut above the rest of the comp, but in previous years they've been in the dicussion for best side in the comp, this year they are clear 4th, with daylight running 5th.

Agreed.

They peaked too early last year and defending the trophy is nigh on impossible these days. They get their best available 13 fit and firing coming in to September, they can still win it for sure.

I would be more impressed if he did it with Gidley tbh. His injury is the best thing that could have happened to them.

Depending on whether the Panthers make the 8 or not, I'd go with Cleary if they do. Both Mcguire and Robinson have a lot of experience in their squads mixed with some absolute game breaking stars. Panthers have less of the first, and none of the latter. It's a miracle they are only 2 points out of the 8 tbh.

Out of Robo and Mcgire. I'd go Robo. That brick wall the Roosters have is the product of a highly motivated and well drilled footy side. A lot of that can be attributed to their coach.

It is rather amusing people talking about how Robinson has "great cattle" to work with considering the overwhelming majority of people had us finishing bottom 4 in the pre-season prediction thread.

Can't have it both ways.

Rubbish. Once you'd sewn up Jennings and SBW, most people I've talked to (and here) had Roosters as smokies top 4. I thought the same, but didn't think they would be this good this quickly. Credit where credit is due to Robinson
